Worth it to upgrade to 18s?

Hi all. I've got an '11 E90 328 with 17x8s. It's time for tires. This is a daily driver but I drive reasonably aggressively. Would it be worth my effort to move up to some 18s, or will a nice tire on my 17s do everything I'd reasonably need?

Undecided on whether to move away from RFTs but that may be for another thread.

Daily driven on non-RFTs and 18s for the past 3 years, and zero complaints here.

Why do you want 18's? They will always be heavier with the same wheel versus 17s. 18s certainly can look better but 17s are lighter, cheaper, and has the same, if not better, tire selection.

My Style 285s have grown on me, but I've always liked BBS RX / CH style wheels (Like the Style 197s or E46 M3 CSL wheels or those groovy Arc-8s of yours).

I'd also considered moving up to 8.5" square setup so that I could more comfortably run 245s all around and if I'm going to do that, seems like I might as well go up to 18s. I could easily get 4x 8.5" Style 162s (though I'm a much bigger fan of the Style 197s which are considerably harder to find)

Well run-flats are much heavier than normal tires so if you upgrade to 18s ditching the run flats will offset the weight of bigger wheels and tires.

I had a set of Style 197s on my E46 325Cic and loved the difference from the Style 44s. I intend on upgrading to the Style 437s on my E92, I think 18 would be a good choice on you 328. I try to find a compromise between performance and aesthetics.
