Pre-LCI E90 angel eyes....can I get them?
I have the 'basic' crappy headlights on my pre-LCI E90 335d and I'd quite like to fit a set of angel eye headlights so...can I do it and if so does anyone have any recommendations or links I can peruse?
Cheers!

you just want to get a set of LCI halogens. Straight swap, gives you angel eyes.
not cheap, but its the only decent way. Cheap ebay headlights have poor light patterns, poor build and aren't worth the cash. |

As above. Lci lights are direct replacement then upgrade the angel eye lights on them.
Depos etc have been discussed on here numerous times but the majority find them cheap and nasty, and the rings can't be upgraded. For now though, fit some better bulbs and all will be good in the world again |

Christ on a bike, the LCI headlights aren't cheap are they!
I think I'll trawl a few scrapyards for them and see if I can get them... I read somewhere that the dealers ask around £800 a set and looking on eBay I can get a genuine set for £500... It was more for the look than the lighting, although in fairness the current lights aren't that great, maybe I will just upgrade to the brightest bulbs I can legally fit! So on that note - anyone know what the brightest 'xenon look' bulbs I can use legally are?

Found this article http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accesso...-x-treme-power Claims Philips X-treme Power to be the best, don't know how white/cool blue looking these are. Looking for some LCI headlights myself....can always transfer the bulbs
Noticed Halfords now do an 'ultra' 120% more light bulb. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...ticleId=874621.......> IMAGE Last edited by Dizzle; 08-29-2012 at 07:56 AM.. |

SO a big no no for the after market headlight kits then?
My wife was moaning on Sunday night that she misses the xenon's, and while I wait for a suitable set to come available, may look at the bulb upgrade at the very least. |

yeah xenons are the only thing my car is really missing spec wise, and its one of the things I really wish it had. Just don't really want the expense and hassle of getting factory xenons working

I've got the Philips X-treme in my pre LCI lights. They are a definate improvement over standard, but if you're after a "xenon look" bulb you may be disappointed as they are a normal halogen colour.

Just having the road lit up significantly better would suffice. The more I look at the cost of changing the lights to the LCI ones, the more I think it's a really good idea to just upgrade the bulbs in my current ones as I don't think they're great to start with and it's been something I've done with quite a few other cars I've owned.
Is it a 2 minute or 20 minute job to change the bulbs? I know changing bulbs on my missus S-Max is a royal pain in the ass...I'm hoping an E90 will be easier but I'm not holding my breath! Edit - There's a Youtube video showing how it's done....they don't like to make it straightforward do they! So it looks like the ones I want are the H7 55W - Either the Phillips X-Treme, Osram Night Breakers, or the Halfrauds Ultra ones (if they're on offer!)

I have the depos on my E90 and i think they are great, fair enough they arent as good of quality as OEM but they do their job fine and look great, they are the closest to OEM look as you can get.

I was expecting them to be a pain in the rear but I've just swapped them out on my E90 (Pre LCI) and it took about 10 or 15 minutes, really easy. The near side is harder than the off side due to lack of space, but easily DIY-able!

I certainly will if I can find a day in the near future where it isn't raining...and when the bulbs arrive of course, they were shipped yesterday so I'm expecting them either today if I'm lucky or more likely tomorrow.

That's good to know, I've had a watch of the youtube video and it's not like I remember changing bulbs on my older cars (20 seconds to get the assembly open, 20 seconds to change the bulb and another 20 seconds to put the assembly together again!)
