Fire ash?
This may be a dumb question...but is all this ash from our San Diego fires going to cause some paint damage? I was just going to hose her off thoroughly before the wash, anything better?

Dust it off before you rinse it or rain???
Isn't those ashes are very acidic and when it contacts with water it will damage your paint. Also, do not operate windshield wipers when there's a layer of ash. Not sure about these ashes...but I heard volcanic ash will scractch ur windsheild when you wipe it with wipers. That happened to a British Airways airliner many years ago. But don't quote me, i'm not 100% sure. Maybe fellow e90post member can help out more?

volcanic ash is totally different, because it contains pumice, fine sand-like grains of volcanic rock.
I asked the same question re: ash in the fallout thread. |
