Seems to me that's very close to what it would cost if you were buy that car new. And if you go to the dealership you can probably bargain some free stuff whereas, I'm not sure how comfortable you would be bargaining with your friend.

Having said that 1000km is basically brand new and if you don't want to wait for your car to built and you like how it's configured, you should go for it.

But I wouldn't say it's a smoking deal.

I have exact same options except my is 6MT. May came up like $60,000 and it was less then 50 km when I found my at dealer. So I guess you can talk them down to 60,000

Cross posted this:

IMO, not a bad price for a Canadian spec car with only 1000 kms (much better than a demo). It's essentially got the premium and sports packs. You can check the price online. Assuming it has flat paint (black, white or red), then the price before discount and taxes, destination charge (freight/PDI = about $1900), AC and other surcharges is currently $62,545. You won't have to pay 7% GST if its a private sale so you'll save that and about $2500 in other extra expenses. You should be able to wangle a 2-3% discount from a dealer so, all in all, I think you are saving about $4,000 to 5,000.

On the downside, the car isn't brand new and isn't necessarily to your perfect specs (colours, features, etc) but on the upside, you'd get it without waiting for about 5 months. But you have an almost new 328xi so you'll take a bath too in selling so soon.... It's under warranty so you could have the oil cooler retrofitted (although this problem is somewhat overblown unless you live in a hot climate and/or track the car).

I don't think that is a good deal at all. For that $$$ i would get a brand new one. Maybe for around $55-56k would be an ok deal. Don't forget, once the car leaves the dealer...the car depreciates $2000-3000 right away. And now that the car has over 1000km's in it...you can knock off another $1500 for that.

Glad I'm not selling you a car D&G! Depreciation is maximal in the first few months but this seller should be able to get 62K and will probably lose around 10-12% of the price he paid (more if he didn't get a good discount from his dealer). My guess is he paid around $70-72K. If he could only get $55K for it, that would be a 20-25% loss!

I am trying to find a 335 cab in Toronto, and went into, no kidding, 4 dealerships yesterday. Things to note:

1. The 335 cabs and coupes are hot hot hot, here. Barely any around, and the ones that do, mostly have AT (what the??)

2. It appears as though some dealers are not giving deals at all on cars that are in stock, and they are selling for full pop.

3. From what I see, dealers are not posting these 335s in the system, and are keeping them without letting other dealers in the city or country know they are available.

Conclusion:
If you want a car NOW, and this car is what you want. Go for it. You will save a whack of upfront money (freight, PDI, air tax, tire tax, etc). If you are leasing the car, and can get a GREAT interest rate around 5 % or less, I'd go for it. However, if you can afford the extra few bucks up front, go for a new one, and when you are READY TO PURCHASE go into a dealer, and tell them you're ready to buy.

good luck
