DFW Alignment Shops
Who is everyone using for alignment in DFW (specifically Plano, Lewisville, Frisco etc). My 335 has active steering, does it have to be taken to a dealer for alignment?

I don't think it needs to be... I take all of my cars to Gary's alignment in Dallas. Small place but nice guy and does good work. But for active steering there is a tool i think to reset it.

I'm not sure how active steering works, but PTP is pretty awesome I've heard. They do a lot of customization and I think it's only $80 if you mention DallasImports.net.

PTP has a good reputation but way too far to drive to get an alignment. Looking for someone closer to Plano, Frisco. I think Classic wants 200+ to do an alignment.

The guys at the dealership were telling me that they have to do a "weighted" alignment? I have a 2011 335i e90. You guys able to do this type of alignment? They were saying at the dealer that it is ~$1200 for an alignment if you don't have the Maintenance Warranty.
OP: Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread. Could be good info to have for you too, if your car requires this "weighted" type alignment. |

if your alignment is pretty bad and your front toe is way out of spec, you might need to take it to dealer. your suppose to zero out the steering angle using the isid (bmw diag tool) then do the alignment and after that calibrate the active steering. theres a chance you can get lucky where after the alignment the active steering light wont come on but if it does then good luck getting it fixed at a non dealer lol

I went to PTP about 10 days ago for an alignment. I was very impressed with the shop and the tech. He spoke to me about the alignment parameters and how that would altering each one would affect performance. I opted for the 150.00 one year unlimited alignment price. If I ever wanted to build a track car I would let them do the suspension work. They know what they're doing.

So I was going to take my car to PTP today (Saturday) to get an alignment. They are only open monday-friday and they close at 6pm. There is no way I can get my car out there for an alignment unless I take a day off work.
I call Cobb Tuning in Plano and Neil told me that they are unable to do the alignment because they do not do Active Steering. Searching the forums have turned up very little results. I see a lot of people doing "lifetime" alignments at FireStone, but again the Active Steering becomes an issue. Does anyone else know a shop I can try? The dealer wants to charge me $250 for an alignment!
