I sprayed mine before but after a month or so it started chipping off. I suppose if you went overboard with the coats of laquer it might have a bit more protection but I only did 2 if I remember correctly.

I ended up wrapping mine with CF look vinyl, lasting much better so I'd recommend that. Can get enough vinyl for just a few pound on ebay.

Should be fine it's a lot tougher than paint.Heat gun it afterwards and will be a good bond.

There's 2 x A4 size bits on eBay-proper 3M stuff that would do.About £3 as it saw it the other day.

The stuff I used was just left covers from when I wrapped my interior trim. As already stated above, use a heat gun or hair dryer and stretch the vinyl round the back of the grills and it stays on fine. 3M stuff says it lasts 5 years on exterior parts if I remember correctly

Sprayed mine with Plasti dip. Dead easy to do, great finish, and holding up extremely well, been on for 8k miles so far with no problems

The OP wanted gloss black though, didn't think you could get gloss with Plastidip?

As I said, wrapped mine back in February and they looked like this:

A photo of mine wrapped that I took today, 7 months on:

Other than the fact the photo from today is rubbish quality and very white lol, the wrap itself is holding up fine

Been looking at using plastidip, I wasn't sure of the finish it would give. A set of matt grilles on eBay are £41.52 delivered and only £25 more than a can of plastidip. Knowing my DIY skills I'd screw it up and end up buying some anyway!!

Plastidip do a glossifier spray which you spray over the standard plastidip. Supposed to give a gloss finish.
