Winter tyres or cheap winter run around
Does it make more sense to buy a cheaper winter run around for the snow/ice
or go for winter wheel/tyres The BM could be parked over the winter with no chance of damaging it or curbing the wheels Then after the snow sell the runabout and appreciate being back in the Bm Whats your opinions Sean |

Not financial sense no, you have tax, insurance, repairs to take care of.
For fun yes, i always wanted an old landrover for some reason, or a late 80's landcruiser |

What id buy would have tax and one years mot on it Use the runabout just for work and back and put in a mates name who is a trader and drive it on an 3rd party extension from my own insurance-not ideal but im legally covered and the BM stays properly insured Repairs would come into it but if i buy wisely that should be ok and im handy enough with motors and as its only a runabout second hand parts would be used if it needed anything and id only pay about £1000 for a runabout Just bought a set used 18's for my wifes Leon FR and have ordered Hankook icebears 225/40/18 rims cost me £200 and the tyres through a mate £380 so i can use that car at the weekends I just thought parking the BM over the winter would be more sensible Cheers Sean |

Not so sure I would be happy myself with that insurance arrangement. Wouldn't take too much of an investigation to find out who used the car all the time and who really owned it so its not really worth the risk. Run a quote on a cheap car with low miles, you might be surprised how little it costs as your insurers should match your NCB on a second vehicle, might only cost a couple of hundred quid for a year and worth it for the peace of mind. A claim refused by insurers due to dishonesty where injuries are involved could cost you tens of thousands.
