Its WINTER time and my heater is broken!!

Ok guys! I hope you all are having a happy 2010!

Some assistance is needed... So here is the problem...

I have no heating... My heater does not work, just blow out cool air.

***actual problem***
BMW mechanic/technician said... "Performed fault survey/diag and found the water valve faulty. Recommend stating with the water valve. Advised the customer of the possibility of the IHKA Heater Control Unit being faulty as well. But should start with the water valve. Estimate for water valve $561.00. Estimate for the IHKA Control Unit $1050.00."
So I paid them 130 bucks to pretty much assess the problem, and tell me what the deal was.

SO...does anyone know where I can get this for a better price? Is there a reasonable priced mechanic or shop that anyone knows in the DC/MD/VA area? If so please let me know because its a bitch driving in the cold with just seat warmers on, haha.

Thanks everyone!

First time I noticed it was when I tried using the defrosters. I usually put it on 70 on both sides and that gets the inside pretty warm for me...so a few weeks ago (maybe even a month) I noticed it was just cool air blowing out... Then I turned up the temp up to 84! and still just cool air. I mean the car drive just fine, its just cold inside hahah.

I do not think that I could help you much here, but my previous vehicle has no cold air in the summer time and if it does. It took approximately 4 to 5 hours. In the end the dealer replaced the IHKA under warranty and the car long gone now.
