Yup. First negative I noticed in the car and usually the first complaint of anyone riding in or driving my car.

Agree. I was really hoping they would put them back in the center console with the f30, but I guess not. They don't belong in the doors on BMW's anyway.

Correct way do it:

Tom
The were in the center console of the *3 series* until 2006. They were in the armrest of the 5 series starting in 1997 with the E39 (1996 in Europe). Of course in the E39 they were in the perfect position, unlike in the E90.

I thought I read somewhere that the LCI moved the switches further back. Unless I'm misremembering and they were moved back for the F30.

Well with the invention of i-drive they had to clear up some space, which is why cup holders and the window controls were moved. I also thought they were too far away at first, but now I must be used to them. Having driven the car nearly two years they now appear perfectly placed, naturally my fingers rest where they are. Maybe I have a long reach.

I find the switches to be too far away as well but I usually go to lower the rear window first so it isn't a problem for me. I like to have both front and rear open the same amount versus just one window.

I've never had a problem with it. I actually prefer them to be where they are since it gets them out of my way. Then again, I rarely open the windows, I prefer using the sunroof instead.

Yes, I have the same problem. I hit the rear window switches when going for the front windows 50% of the time. It doesn't help that the switches angle slightly downward too. I thought is was because my Audi had the switches positioned closer.
