No problem. It looks like a decent amount of people have bought the kit from the guy thats selling for 240 and they have generally been completely satisfied. His old Techone thread is currently 48 pages long...

I'm just doing the last bits to convince myself that I'm not throwing my money away and that this kit wont break after 5 hours of use.

poldim, please let us know how it goes and make sure to post ALOT of pics.
day, night, all different angles, etc. Im not asking too much, right?

I plan on spending extra $300+ on OEM spoiler, but now I am debating between the spoiler or the HID yellow fog conversion. I'll wait until I see some pics from you. *cough*pressure on poldim*cough

Hey quick question. I know its off topic, but now I'm curious.. I'm not married, I've had a steady gf for while now, but anyhow, I noticed you had a ring on your hand. Do people take these off when working on the car. I wouldn't want to scratch up the car, or ruin the ring.. I guess the big thing is to make sure it gets back on your hand before you go inside otherwise you'll probably be sleeping in your car that night...

You're girl will know you were working on your car. If she doesn't, and kicks you out to the car, then you should really re-evaluate your relationship...

lol. good observation on the ring. funny how I just noticed the ring in the pics i've posted.

I have tendancy to forget things once taken "off" from me, so I try to keep on.
Example, once my cell phone is out of my pocket while im working on the car, I won't find it for few hours.
now imagine what would happen if i take the ring off....

oh dear.

I got tons of scratches on my ring, but she appreciates it actually for having them on all the times.
In reality, I just don't want to lose the ring. my girl will kill me if I do.

Thanks lux.sh

This is a very excellent DIY write up.

I followed the procedure today and successfully got my fog lamp changed today.

Now, the 5000k mains match the new 4300k fog lamps better.

Does it mean that no jacks=no new fog lamps?
cause i got the H11 55W and was wondering i fi can do it without lifting the car up cause i don't have a JACK!!! or must i just find some modifying stores to change them for me?
BTW will the H11 55W show error messages on the ON-BOARD computer?
Those pics will be great if i have the JACKS

You don't really need the jacks, lux.sh's DIY was a little overkill As you can see, folks have installed PMBs without jacking up the car or removing the front wheels and that installation job is more involving.

Just turn the wheels in, follow Lux.sh's directions on removing the appropriate bolts/nuts and squeeze your hand into the small opening (again as per lux.sh's directions). The only difference I see is that you got to be prepared to get all dirty from sitting and lying on the ground to reach bolts/fog lamps housing.

No error messages for 55W/100W output. 55W is stock current...

Just recently(few days ago), while I was installing my Hartge lip, I had no problem getting into foglight area without lifting the car up. It is actually easier and less hassle to do it without the bolts, as long as you've done it before.

the reason I posted pics are to show you guys clearly where the bolts are. so its not an overkill.

Just look at the pics, see where the bolts are. Without lifting the car, turn the wheels to the opposite direction(so you have more room to play with), reach the bolts with your hands, use the tools and take them off. then you are good to go. Difference between lifting and not lifting is, you can't really see the bolts when you are trying to take them off. so you might want to spare extra few minutes if this is your first time taking those bolts off at the bottom just because you have to "feel" where the bolts are.

Like KL2DC said, only big difference is getting your pants all dirty.
and thats a big deal for me.

I have changed my fog lamps already last night and it was quite a hassle to fit your hand through the gap and unclipping the bulb (didn't turn my wheels) But now everything was done without a jack. had a little ramp and did it right there. But there is one more problem. after i finished installing and putting back the screws, there was one screw (the one that holds the rubber piece at the far end) that didn't want to go back. It felt like there is no housing for the screw. so it just falls off when i try screwing it. what may be wrong? Its just so spacious/loose.

I think I may know which one you are talking about.
Are you talking about the very last screw at the far side(towards the engine/middle of the front end) where two plastic panels supposed to meet together in order to put the screws in?

If yes, you just have to align those plastic pieces properly to get them screwed in. I had the same trouble. Just took some time. Might be a little tougher without seeing the actual bottom plastic pieces though.

Bulb Part #'s??

So apparently BMW uses differnet bulbs in different trims....

I have 330 ZSP which has 55w bulbs in it - went to the dealer today and picked out what looked like my fog light picture (they had 325, 330, and "M Sports package" listed) - I thought all the bulbs should be the same, right, even if there are different housings...
I got part number 63 21 7 160 782 - This is NOT my bulb! This is a 35W bulb. It will fit the plug and the housing, but it is not the correct OEM bulb for a 330 ZSP.....

Back to the parts bin....

Small hands not required

Thanks for this excellent DIY -- I installed some PIAA ion crystals bulbs today using these instructions. One thing I found that helped -- there is an air duct inside the wheel well and there is a bolt on top and bottom. If you remove the bottom bolt, the panel can be pulled back enough so small hands are no longer required.

Thanks again!

Smile H-11 Fog LEDs, anyone?!

Dude, nice, nice post!

How about 'em PIAA LED H-11 fog light bulbs that I've seen floating around on eBay? Sounds dope, but worried about the output... If anyone's got it, pictures, plz. Day and night. Suppose to be super visible during the day, too!

Also, anyone here changed the angel eyes yet? I know PIAA's got some 6500K LED replacements for E90, just don't want to waste time and money on things that don't work...

LUX.SH, Is it possible to see where the angel ring's LED when you changed the fog light bulbs?

i just installed piaa 6500k led and changed d1s bulbs, high beam bulbs, and foglights bulbs 2 days ago, since i decided to change all of them at the same time, i just removed wheels and fender liners and imo that will make your life much easier. if i remembered correctly, i don't think the way we install foglights bulbs will give us enough space to install piaa leds, just my $.02

Is this also the H-11 LED bulbs from PIAA? If so, please take a picture of it in the daytime. I'd like to see how they look during the day.

Sky, I've not attempted to change any bulbs yet, so I don't know what's involved. Are they all accessable from the wheel well?

Sorry to ask all these questions, as I'm preparing a major lighting change, once I get everything decided and set... :rocks: :rocks: :rocks:

From the ones you changed, is there one bulb that you recommend? Which ones?

Pics, plz!!!

DIY fog light bulb swap

Just a note following what you gave for changing the bulbs.....if you have small hands, an easier and quicker way is to go from the top of the engine, stick your arm straight down behind the lights (there is a small space big enough for small hands) reach all the way down. Turn the bulb housing and viola, change bulbs follow process in reverse.....5min for both. Works for me w/out having to jack up the car.
