Misquoted. Twice! What next?

First I was misquoted on the price of the car when we negotiated. (he forgot to include auto seats) When I specifically made it clear that I wanted this. Add $1,000

And now he misquoted me on chrome window trim. Originally he said $400, now he just emailed me $1150!!! Add $750. Obviously not going to go with the trim. Not worth the price.

WTF!!??

To be honest, he is a great guy. He also knocked $2000 off MSRP. In the end I will pay about $400 above invoice.

I am in sales, and understand that misquotes really should not be a part of the buying process. And you need to be held accountable for mistakes. But a mistake is a mistake, right? But twice?

What do you guys think I should do - or just let it go?

Once maybe, but twice, come on. I'd try and bitch. The chrome parts should be somewhere close to the $400.00 he told you so if I was you I'd tell him I'll pay the extra for parts but he needs to get them installed for free.

"I said $200 off MSRP, not $2,000. Oh, and the floor mats are $10K."

Not in writing, go else where.

Wait there's more

Just wait till he give you the price over invoice and than when you get the car adds , a maco, training, prep and document fee which was not included.
I would recommend to call the sales manager and deal with him directly.
good luck

Sounds like it's time for a new dealer. Around here there are too many within 30 minutes drive to deal with that BS!

Some good points here. Thanks. I told him that I was disapointed I was misquoted. We will see if he does anything. If I got a great overall deal, I guess it really doesnt matter in the end, right? I could bitch, but whats that really going to do?

Hey, this way I save $400 er... $1150 by not getting the chrome window trim! And even with the final price he quoted me (with the auto seats) Still paying $400 over invoce.

IF these numbers change on me when I sign, I'm gonna be Bullshit.

Maco and training appear on the actual factory invoice so a deal at $x over invoice would include those. If you didn't account for them b/c some website doesn't show them on their invoice calculations that is your bad.

Prep and doc are dealer fees.

Yea I have already negotiated the deal. Total includes MAco, Training, doc other fees, all that BS. Still going to be about 400 over invoice. So its a great deal.

I was just pissed about the misquote.

If you have it on a buyers order in writing make him eat it.

If not then make him write it up so it cant happen again.

Yea, the window trim was never mentioned in negotiation, (thought of it afterwards) therefore, its not on the buyers order.

If that was in writing, I would make him eat it.

Same thing happened to me, twice. Walked out of both dealerships. Found a no BS dealer with a lower price. Why do business with someone who you can't trust?

Yea, I am going to sign and pick up on Monday. Even though that was disappointing, I am sticking with this dealer because they are giving me the best deal.
