M3 doesn't do R8 might have been a better title.

Was on track with a new R8 recently.
It quite understandably had a conservative driver but I wasn't impressed with its cornering ability.
Straight line was extremely quick though.
However where it shone was back in the pits.
Damned thing looked like it was still warming up, not even a whiff from the ample brakes.
My 335 was stinking hot LOL

How would it fare against the M6?

Suprised the R8 pulled away immediately!! Took a while for the RWD to show it's HP at the wheels eh!

Ahem, I beg to differ children. If you stick with it and watch the second run, the M3 has the R8 licked - clearly

Only watched first run!

On paper the BMW should start pulling hard really once rolling with far less tranny losses

The r8 is running a dual clutch tranny...shifting like a champ. M3 is a 6 speed

The M3 has a crazy top end - above 100mph on the autobahn it absolutely flies. With DCT it would have beaten the R8 by even more...............i would still rather have the R8 though.....even if it is a bit slower

The rtronic is a single clutch tranny it's the same as Lamborghini's e-gear and it's shit. Nothing at all as fast as a dsg. In fact I bet the guy in the m3 did faster shifts lol

My 135i took one to the cleaners, as I famously posted on here. If I met someone who bought a V8 one, I'd ask questions. Like... why?

LOL

It was understeering way wide all the time.
Maybe the driver, who knows for sure?

It soon moved over though
