Fake K+DCAN CABLE? (ebay)
I ordered a K+DCAN cable from ebay for roughly $27 a couple of months ago, and only really tried to use it recently as I replaced my battery. Using BMWLogger, i would receive an error telling me that the device is "not properly powered" and with INPA I would also receive a data transmission error.
I believe my cable is faulty, and so I opened it up. I'm no engineer, but I only see a few lines of circuitry connecting the pins to the cable. Looks like 3 or 4 actually have connections, and the rest are connected to nothing. Also, unlike the cable at One Stop Electronics, this cable has the CE mark that represents "China Export" and not the CE mark from Europe. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CE_marking#Misuse) Here you can see that the metal connectors go to the center of the circuit board, And it appears to me that only a few of the pins are actually connected! Here's a photo of the back of the device, and this sticker is what differentiates it physically from the one sold by one stop electronics. What cable do you guys recommend? Is it still the $99 cable from one_stop_electronics? Last edited by username604; 01-06-2013 at 01:21 AM.. |

i have seen so many threads about cables in the past. I would say without a doubt go with the one that everyone has had success with... the more expensive $100 one. I got mine from ebay if i recall correctly. Whatever the guides said to get.
It will save you money in the future when you go to pull codes or do your own work. Plus it lets you code your car if you would like. |

Verbatim, I have to go with the majority on this one also. My personal experience was rather disappointing, although I finally ended up with a working $50 cable, it took a couple months. The $100 one, from what I'm reading, seems to consistenly work on the first try.
I'm afraid your $27 cable appears to be a total hack job! |

I'm a new member here and all this info is great, nut there is a lot!
I see two different types of cables, e-net and USB. Is there a difference? I have a f25 x3 and aE93 335i convert. Can I use the same cable and program for each car? Thanks for your help as I start to learn here. ML |

I had problems with E-bay's cheapo K-DCAN cable (as the one from the firs post). It didn't want to connect to my LCI E60. Then I have dessoldered pins 7-8 bridge and voila - everythng works like a charm.
