aFe or K&N
Has anyone used or have thoughts on the aFe Pro5R stock replacement filters vis the K&N? Does it look like the aFe offers more filter surface area (thickness)?

Most people here recommend the AFE over K&N.

The aFe Replacement Panel Filter is specifically designed for each different vehicle and will free your car from the air restriction that comes from an OEM intake filter. This AFE drop in filter maintains all of the OEM tubing and enclosures, while replacing the paper air filter in the OEM intake with a durable AFE filter. This filter is 100% washable and reusable, and will be the last air filter you will need to buy for your car. The aFe system has been the more popular choice among the community and is the product that I would recommend for you. I can't shoot you over a PM due to your low post count so email me here at Alan************.com and I'll get you some more details!

go with the AFE hands down. 10 times better than the K&N.
talk with either Craven328 or **********s about getting one of these. I installed one in my old man's car for fathers day, and he gained about 2-3 mpg and a little extra power. not that noticeable though. If you want more of a boost and even better airflow, get the cold air intake. it sounds a lot better as well.

aFe for sure. Look at the photo there, you can see that the K&N's urethane surrounds are not cast with a comb in the filter element like aFe. This causes the black urethane to drip down into the filter element which not only looks terrible but substantially blocks flow.
aFe uses a metal comb to hold the urethane into place when casting the filter element in urethane to ensure that no part of the filter element is blocked. It is this level of detail that sets aFe's filters apart from your off the shelf replacement. |
