Question e90 320 Front Brake Hose issues

Guys,

For my 320D 55 plate yesterday I got my MOT done at KwikFit, all pass, but they highlighted that both the front “brake hoses are slightly deteriorated”, do any of you know how much it would cost to replace them? also about 2 months ago I got my Brake Fluid service done at BMW Sytner Maidenhead, they changed the brake fluid but why did they not warn about deteriorating hoses? Any ideas?

Maybe pop it back into the place that did the fluid change and get them to check them ? Especially as they just renewed the fluid, and if they are needing replaced quiz them how they didn't pick it up! Surely in 2 months they aren't going to deteriate that much on a 10 year old car 😏

yes true, if you change the hoses you need new fluid, will give it a go.

If you didnt ask you wouldnt have got. Job card came up change brake fluid and thats what he did.
MOT has mandatory hose condition check so they did.

Hoses are only a few pounds each in the aftermarket, or you could upgrade to braided ones for circa £15 per corner. I imagine genuine BMW hoses will be a bit more, and if your going to spend that much you'd be better getting the braided ones instead.

Fitting each hose should be a 10 minute job, but sometimes the pipe fitting sieze up and cause proper headaches, and after fitting the hoses the whole brake system needs bled thru which can take a bit of time.

It might be that the hoses are fine and kwikfit are just being their usual overzealous selves. It might be that BMW simply didnt look. The front hoses on my brothers 55 plate 320d were perished and needed changed when we did the brake calipers last year, and the front hoses on my 06 plate are also starting to deteriorate and will need done soon too.
