some advice, if you are looking at OCC in the future, you will have to get one with a passenger side mount (i.e. AR) due to the CAI. I have v1, you have v2, but both block the commonly used driver's side mounting place for the OCC
Thanks for the heads up.

I mean it all depends. I have my bsh on my passenger side attached to the wheel well and it works perfect. Good looking intake though.

Im thinking of buying this but Im curious to why you couldnt install it.
Was it due to OCC?

For those looking at OCCs, take a look at what BMS is offering. It's sits closer to the cowl and I don't think it will interfere with this intake.

I believe he had purchased some parts and never installed them. It wasn't an install issue as far as I know.

Sounds good. Let me take some pictures with my point and shoot instead of my phone. Unfortunately, that's as high res as I get.

Does CAI give you better performance than DCI? I love the look and sound on Injen DCI. Does CAI do anything to intake sound?

Most would say yes because the air is not pulled from the hot engine bay yet cooler air from the front bumper. Many people dispute that the DCI's are no improvement over the stock box but I find that hard to believe.

I have heard clips of the Injen intake and it sounds great but that was with the hood up. When you get on it, you definitely hear the difference with the Stett vs. stock and the Forge DV's sound good as well as you let off the gas.

Thanks! Combined with my new intercooler I shouldn't have any heat soak but I haven't ran it hard for an extended period of time yet. The intake pulls cold air from the lower part of the driver side bumper. The filter is located next to the fog light.

Would this kind of Induction kit allow for a louder turbo spooling sound compared to to a regular DCI?

Considering where the air filter is now located, i would be tempted to remove my fog lights and channel cold air to it.

Best,

Josh

I wouldn't think that they would differ much. The argument about the DCI vs. the stock air box is that the stock box restricts air flow where the DCI increases air flow. It has nothing to do with the temperature of the air.

A true CAI such as Stett, Dinan, GruppeM, Mr. 5 will allow similar air flow as a DCI but of course the air will be cooler. Correct me if I am wrong guys...not that I would have to throw that disclaimer out there .

When you get a minute, read this http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=449339. This guy did a through review of the Stett CAI. It's a great read!

I run the Stett CAI and an upgraded FMIC (ER) and have tracked the car in some summer temps...no heatsoak, the car pulled like a beast everytime I asked it to. You don't have to remove the fog light, just a little plastic piece next to it. The brake air duct also stays in tact...the CAI is not intrusive at all.

Oh, and you will hear a really cool sound under load.

I am going to post some sound clips after I get a chance this weekend. I also want to record what my Dinan exhaust sounds like before and after the DP install which will be done on Friday.

Just curious - does anyone have the Stett intake with an Mtech bumper? Does it line up well with the duct opening?
