Upgraded my automatic shifter today including boot

Hey guys

So the ONLY thing I do not like about my 2012 335i was the shifter. In my opinion it is an eye sore and way too much chrome which I am not into. So I did what others have done and bought the 2014 style shifter from:
https://bimmian.com/Accessories-for-...ic-Shift-Knob/

The only thing that really bothered me about this was the redundant shift display. I feel it immediately screams modded and not in a clean way.

I did some research and figured if I could get a manual boot with trim it would fit in the same hole in the center console and give me a cleaner more OEM look. I picked up a used manual OEM boot from a 335i E92 off of Ebay.

It came in today and was surprised how smooth and easy everything went. I know it is all opinion (especially on forums) but I like the way she came out! Let me know if anyone has questions as its the least I can do for all the help this forum has and continues to give me. I tried to take as many before and after shots for anyone considering.

Very nice. Looks just like the shifter in my F10 but I guess the side button is still mechanical on this one?

What did you do with the shift display connection on the old cover?

I used bondo on my cover and vinyl wrapped in matte black.

Supacat, that looks awesome. I changed my gear lever today but I too don't like the redundant lights. I need to order the leather gear boot. Your images just verified that for me.
Cheers.

Yes, I know. I meant the plug that goes to the original shift display light since, you don't have that on manual shift cover.

I saw these years ago but the non-functional park button and the gear layout being wrong bugs me.

'Way too much chrome' on the stocker, yet you opted for even more silver plastic?

Sorry, the perfomance shift knob with the alcantara is much better looking than that style imo, and all that lighting is just too over the top, but everyone has their own tastes

Have you seen this option? I had it in my previous 335i. The picture of the shifter with aluminum trim was my car. http://www.motivemods.com/BMWRetrofi.../mm-sst-m3.htm

Nice! i just wrapped mine.

I agree with others about the chrome and silver hence why i wrapped mine.

Also i like the new LEDs on this shift knob makes it feel more modern and unique. when its in park the green LED looks super dope and the brightness of the amber adjusts with your cluster settings.

keep in mind I'm coming from an auto Performance shift knob.

Now debating between this shifter and the BMW Performance shifter. The park button at the top serves no function on this shifter correct?

How are u guys making this shifter smaller? Mine is longer than oem and looks complelty off. It also doesn't work to well when u want to use the shifter to switch gears (has diffrent wheel so no pedals)

Not sure if you got the right one but mine just went in and shifts completely fine.
