i recently bought V1 and i disabled K and X band because i heard cop is using Ka band.

however, i am not quiet sure if V1 is working well. I never met cop on highway yet, so i dont knowl.

and once in local, a cop was follwing me and V1 didnt show any alarm.

so the question is, is V1 really detect cop? i always keep driving under limit on local, but i drive fast on highway.

What is your setting or mode?

i would just set it back to detect all the bands for now and see what happens. I know here in florida I never got a cop hit me with X but i get K sometimes and KA alot.

The V1 doesn't detect COPS it detects radar and laser. So if the cop is driving behind you but doesn't have his radar on then the V1 is useless.

I leave mine on all bands and just turn it down a little when I'm driving through heavy metropolitan areas. The V1's true strength lies in its abilities to pick up radar and laser out on highways and open roads, around town (at least here) cops don't usually use radar, they just pull over anyone that blows by them (unmarked cars) or is WAY outpacing other traffic under the assumption you're speeding...

I love my V1 and it has saved my countless $$$ in tickets, but only out on the open road, I don't rely on it in the city.

The V1 doesn't detect COPS it detects radar and laser. So if the cop is driving behind you but doesn't have his radar on then the V1 is useless.

Another thing to be aware of is the increased use of laser. Here in GA most of the police have changed to laser. You rarely get any advanced warning. In fact the past 3 tickets I've gotten were laser and I had no advance warning from my V1. You really need to be aware of local police habits more than depending on a detector.

It will only detect if the cop has its radar on. If nothing is detected, chances are, he has nothing on, therefore, the cop can only tell how fast you're going if he's pacing you.

When the radar is on and is near you, you better believe the V1 will detect it.

most def.....its the best detector I have ever owned......but as the others have said it only detects radar....its still up to the driver to pay attention....

Some cops use K but most troopers stick to Ka.

yeah man....when v1 detects laser, its basically just telling you to pull over and get out your license and registration


if your speeding when it alerts you to laser its too late

The v1 is great, but really, radar detectors can only do so much. Cops aren't stupid and they are not gonna be sitting there with their radar on, for one. For two, there are radar detector DETECTORS out there that cops use, so having a little beacon on your front windshield won't help.
