335xi rims???

I was going to buy rims for my 335xi but I got scared bce people said you can\'t have 8.5 in front and 9.5 in rear on a xi. Help???

I have those sizes on XI model and lot of people does as well. You should not have any problems just be careful with tire dimensions depending on your rim ET so it doesnt rub if you dont have rolled fenders. I have front ET32 and tires 235 and rear ET35 and tires 265, did not roll fenders.

Why not? Many of the xi models came stock with staggered wheels. Mine came with 18x8 fronts and 18x8.5 rears stock, and my summer wheels are 19x8.5 front and 19x10 rears. Just be sure to order the right size tires to keep your rolling diameter the same.

you're good to go! no worries. think you should go bigger though, with 9.5 front and 10 rears. post pics when you're done!!!

overall diameter is the concern on an AWD system as you stated..ill rather just get same size wheels all around and not have to worry about it.

But most of E92 came from factory with staggered setup. I got an M-package and it came with staggered setup. If you get correct sizes you can get close to overal diameter. I didnt hear anyone having problems with it.

the overall diameter on the stock xi is good...im referring to staggered wheels that the overall diameter isn't good.

How about 8.5 front and 10 in the backs? Looking at LC 818's, is that going to be an issue? 35 front and 37 in the back and I am going to get 5 mm spacers for the rears... I am going to drop the car in the spring...

Yes, you can run a staggered setup on the the xi models. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you have to keep the rolling diameter within a 1% rolling diameter. The setup that is going to work best on a pre lci e90 and both the pre lci and lci e92 is the 19x8.5 ET35 with a 235/35/19 up front and the 19x9.5 ET33 with a 265/30/19 in the rear.

You can run staggered wheels as long as you get the right tire size. 19x8.5s up front with 235/35/19s and 19x9.5 ET33 with 265/30/19 would be fine.

Just to clarify because I heard another vendor say this, does ET effect the rolling diameter ie: ET 35 in front and ET 20 in the rear. Saying tires were less than 1% apart.

No, the offset does not in itself affect the rolling diameter. What will however is the tire size you choose to run. So if you get a wheel that is too low of an offset and you need to either run a narrower tire so they don't rub or do fender work.

why does rolling diameter have to be so close. would it mess with the system? i know the speedometer would be affected, but since the car reads 5mph fast that wouldn't be all that bad right?

If your rolling diameter is off, your front wheels and rear wheels will spin at different speeds which can destroy your xfer case, diff, etc.

You want to keep the overall diameter close so that you do not damage components like your diff!

You want the overall diameter of both front and rear to be within 1% of each other to avoid any and all headaches. In general though you want the overall diameter to be within 3% of your stock wheels and tires' to avoid speedometer inaccuracies, or other brake related issues.

Glad I saw this topic. So I just leased a new 335xi sedan M Sport. I have the following winter setup that I am about to transfer from my 330 (which I am told will fit perfectly on my sedan).

18x8.5 et35 VMR V710 on 225/40 snow tires all around. I'm not at any risk of damaging the transfer case or diff am I? (I dont see how it would but since this concern was brought up, figured I'd ask)

If all four tires are the same size then I'm not sure how there is any chance of a problem with damaging your Xdrive system.
