New Owner...have some questions

Greetings! I am the proud new owner of an 08' AW 335i Coupe with Premium, Nav, Sport, and Winter in 6 speed!! This thing is AMAZING!

I have a few questions... the car is completely stock.

After having let the car warm up i've noticed that on one full power run in 2nd I will get a huge surge in power from the turbos that throws me in my seat all the way to 6k! Then the next second (after letting the car cool down and not get heat soaked) I'll step on the gas again and it feels almost like there is not turbo/boost. The car is still quick but its almost like a 20-40 hp difference in feel. Maybe its in my head. Honestly, I feel like it's more the computer holding it back waiting for the right conditions but the power delivery does not seem consistent from day to day. (I've only had it 4 days)... Is this typical?

Perhaps you may want to shut traction control completely off by holding DTC button for 5 seconds. You are probably hitting traction control threshold and its closing throttle.

Very long shot.. but if you have a JB4 it won't let you boost if oil temp <160F. if you let the car cool down that much, JB4 might be switching maps for you...
Again long shot

I noticed there are these settings 1. No DTC light in dash 2. DTC light 3. DTC completely off. I was worried about turning it completely off so i tried just option 2 instead and didn't seem to make a difference.

Maybe its just the angle, but it looks almost like its been lowered a bit especially in the front. The painted side reflectors look pretty nice.

Ah yes it has been lowered but I don't know what hardware was used to do it.

If you don't mind me asking, what part of VA are you in? If I'm local I could swing by and see what you mean but I'm thinking it is the traction controll. Turn it completely off and see what it does.

So i have a little more information on this issue. I was able to pull a P0012A - Intake Cam over retard. I also saw something about "possible fuel pump issue". I'm wondering it I don't have a bad cam position sensor.

When accelerating it feels like the car is starving for air initally. Especially just off of closed throttle. Just barely giving it gas sometimes i can feel the car open up and start moving but most of the time I feel like the car is starving for air or that it is being electronically held back. It's not the DTC or DSC i've tried turning everything off and it still happens. Maybe 1 out of 15 WOT will the car actually feel like it's at it's true power. I am going to try and change plugs and oil/filter. I'm wondering if this isn't a Vanos issue from what i've been reading. But the car idles perfectly smooth. I KNOW there is something going on. I'll just have to wait until I can read everything from the BMS tool. Any ideas / recommendations are appreciated.

Is it throwing any misfire codes? Could be Vanos or HPFP or some other cause. Without codes or a log we can't really say for sure or even provide much definite insite. Good luck.

I saw this exact car in a garage on my facebook. Would you happen to know a Kevin V. (last name hidden for privacy) in the Air Force? I see your location is VA where he's working too.

I was rolling around in Chantilly yesterday but I don't know Kevin V. There can't be too many lowered AW Coupes out there... Are you sure it wasn't Kevin K. That's my brother.
