My advice to those who like the new factory AE's so much -> go trade your car in and get a new one with the new design
The LUX are still the best answer to deal with the shortcomings of the previous design...

I'm not saying the new lux v3's are bad it's just the pics don't show the lux's true capabilities

I just installed my LUX H8's on my '11 335i E90 and I love them! Installation was pretty easy and it only took me about 20 minutes for the entire job. I am very pleased with the outcome.
Here are a couple of tips to make your installation easier: 1) For both of my stock bulbs, their rubber o-ring came off and stayed attached to the bulb mount in the headlight, instead of coming off with the bulb. I had to reach inside the headlight and pull the o-ring out. For those of you having a difficult time installing the LUX bulbs, you might want to check and make sure the stock o-rings came off with your stock bulbs. If the stock o-ring is still stuck onto the bulb mount, the new LUX bulbs will be a tight fit, to say the least. 2) There seems to be plenty of room to work on the passenger side, but on the driver's side the power steering reservoir bracket makes it very cramped and I couldn't get my hand to contort enough to install the new LUX bulb. To give me more room, I removed the power steering reservoir bracket. It's only two 10mm nuts and a 10mm bolt and there is enough play in the hoses to move the bracket out of the way without disconnecting them. This made the job much easier. |

MTEC 4350K's. I'm pretty happy with them. If only installing the Angel Eyes were as easy as the fogs.
I got them from e92lighting.com. While you're at it, pick up a set of the MTEC license plate LED's that come in the housing. They look amazing!! |

This is the thread I found with pictures of LUX and GP Thunder:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=478607 Although someone in there said the MTEC 4350K would be a closer match. I can't decide based on your pictures and their pictures. |

Yes - the Mtech bulbs do match rather well! I had considered making LED fog lights, but it would be too expensive for the brightness Thank you all for your orders over the weekend. All orders went in the mail this morning!

Question : I know lighting is very difficult to capture on camera, but are these as white as they appear in pictures ? Or do they have a slint hint of that icy led color ? I'm just curious how they'd match higher temp xenon bulbs.

Blah. I have failed once again to take night time pics. Either my camera sucks or I have no skills. Probably both

help needed with install Lux V3
I can not figure out how these are supposed to go in.
I have a MY11 E70 There are two caps to access the head lights on each side. Front one has a cap that screws off, and the back one has a clip at the top and flips open then comes off completely. Inside i can only see the bulb that powers the highbeam??? The clips on the back of this bulb do not match up with the clips on the Lux Please help Thanks |
