Thinking of getting the S5 (any recommendation)

Hey guys, haven't been here for a while. My E92 335i still drive very strong so I am not going to replace it with a S5. Just my wife is attached to the S5 style, so I plan on buying her a 2013 B8.5 S5 and I keep the 335 for myself.

I test drove one last night (6sp MT with sport diff), it is nice, engine is powerful and very smooth but didn't drive as good as the 335, the steering feel too loose, the shift too long, the brake is not as connected...etc. I feel more like driving a Lexus. Well, but my wife love it, so I have no say but just pay for it...

Since I never like Audi so didn't know much about it. Will any expert over here have any input? such as what to look for? what kind of discount I can get over the carcost recommendation? what simple mod is a must(eg. shift knob, bolt-on)? which dealer to avoid? Which Audi forum is suitable for loacl Toronto?

And the least... I still want to persuade her to wait for the F32 before making any decision. But when compare side by side with my E92, the S5 really stands out! Even I dun like the new front of the facelift...

To me the new S5 is one of, if not the, nicest/best all around car I have ever driven. Quattro is unreal in winter. The new steering is electric like BMWs (and Porsche etc). Its a rocket (faster than your 335) and sounds great. The standard stereo isnt great so get B&O. Interior is great too. I liked my 09 335 but the new one looks so contrived and mixed up to me. WTF with BMW and their MMI screens.....did they forget to work them in and add last minute? Mid-town Audi is awesome. I've had about 6 cars from them. Just got rid of my 335 (lots of problems) and went back to Audi and I'm thrilled.

any aftermarket ecu tune can be detected by the dealer now and your car will be flagged right away on Audi Canada database for voided warranty associated with tranny & engine works down the road. This comment came from a sales guy, Alex Afretes of Audi Mississauga on the Audi forum a little while back.

If you can wait, why don't you wait for the 4 series coupe ? If not, S5 would be a nice car. If you are the one driving, go for the RS5 !

Tune for his wife? Stasis is expensive but assumes warranty basically.

The 3.0 TFSI is really smooth, the only complaint I have are steering a bit loose and the steering feel didn't feel as good as the Mtech steering wheel on my E92. Also the shift throw is a bit too long, wish replacing the shift knob will help like I did with my E92. So is there anything like mtech parts for Audi?

And yup the RS5 is way over my budget and also not available in MT, so won't even think about it.

I want to wait for the F32 but my wife doesn't seem giving any attention on it at all. Her mind is completely set to the S5. And I won't do any engine mod on it like. Since S5 is already over killed for her daily use. I just looking for some easy mod like the PDV, M3 steering wheel, shift knob...etc on our E90/E92.

So any good audi forum recommended? audi world? audizine? don't won't to waste time on a forum that like the kids on E46fanatics or some die hard fans like the roadfly. Want something that with knowledgeable members like over here.

It is already stretch my budget so I will just pick one of the standard upgrade 19" oem rim and get a 18" replica for winter. From what my research, the best looking affordable rim on S5 is still the work T1S which I already have it on my E92. So most likely I will option with the 19" oem 5-spoke blade rim.

OP, does your wife care how well it drives? It still drives very sporty and is a much better all-around car than the 335i. Only downside imo, is that its a bit too expensive.

Since you have a 335i, my vote is the S5 for her.

There is very little difference between S5 and 335. Who is your wife Danika Patrick?

I have jb4 on my 335, so she can tell the difference between the power delivery. She can tell the 335 has more punch but quite raw and the 3.0 TFSI is more refine and smoother but not feel that fast.

And because of friday storm, my wife was stuck on the middle of the road on her E92(I have snow tire put on of course). So we just place an order on a May deliveryof a 6MT S5 premium with sport differential, 19" rotor titanium rim & rear-view camera option. Get 5% discount with 10 min negotiations. I know it is not the best price but I hate wasting time to travel to different dealer.

So now I have a week to decide which color to choose and any other option to add. I like white & blue but my wife like black. And is the metallic black/white worth it? And I was confused regarding the TPMS option. The salesman told me that the TPMS censor is on the abs so no need to put it on the wheels for the second set of rims. However, tirerack said it required. So is there any good Canadian audi forum that I can get more info on?
