Really? I couldn't get it to work. The radio button 1 shortcut I've saved to Toggle Day/Night Mode doesn't work with the automatic coding enabled. Which type of Maps do you have, Premium or High?

I was saying before that this could have been addressed with software. When you consider that the screen will dim based on if it's dark out or not, clearly it knows if it's dark out. Yet no auto-night mode.
Anyway not point griping about it I guess, not as if any of us actually write the software for idrive. I'll be yanking my harddrive soon to do a clone and upgrade to a larger drive. I would be curious to see then if there's any config files that can be modified to enable this. Probably not though I'm guessing. |

I may soon be able to clear this up once and for all.
I have a 2010 E90 with factory CIC, my screen had been scratched by a previous owner so i wanted to swap it out. I purchased an E60 CIC screen with plastic protector outer layer and now it has arrived i can see it has a light sensor. i have previously coded the CIC Auto day/night mode option but also found it did nothing. So today i plan to fit the new E60 CIC screen (with light sensor) and recode Auto day/night mode and see what happens tonight. im fairly confident the combination of coding AND the sensor will make this work. I will report back with my findings.

Didn't work, there must be some other coding i've missed to activate the light sensor or something, maybe theres some code to tell the CIC what screen it has

What coding values need to happen? I have a MY2009 and my cic screen has a light sensor. The screen automatically changes brightness as I go under bridges, sun roof open etc.

I have given up for now, just using a "favourite" button for night/day mode

2010 LCI E60 550i
FYI, my 2010 550i does not have an automatic day/night nav switching selection. I just used the button 6 program button as a work around. Pretty surprised there's no option for this without coding.

BTW you can reprogram the us 6 button to act as 8 button euro. The mode and am/fm button act as additional shortcuts. It's well worth it. When do you ever use those buttons?
