If you remove them you'll have to buy new ones - 90% of the time the adhesive gets ruined.

Let's say you remove the badge to paint it. What's the best way to reattach it? Any recommendations on adhesives?

Wouldn't that be thicker than the original adhesive?

Should be the same. There's a recess space on the back of the emblems for the adhesive tape. I'm sure 3M makes different thicknesses too. You'll find it at almost any auto parts store. It's the same stuff everybody uses to adhere spoilers.

You could also just buy the black emblems from **********s that come with the double sided tape already on them.

very risky diy - safer to take the badges off first IMO

I like this DIY. I had a question though, what can you use to make it glossy? I have two badges, and I would make one matte, and one glossy black, and see which one would fit better.
