McGwire admits to using 'roids.

For all you baseball fans out there, McGwire admitted today to using steroids for pretty much his entire career. I think what bothered me most, was Bud Selig's reaction:

Commissioner Bud Selig said he was "pleased" by McGwire's admission, adding, "This statement of contrition I believe will make Mark's re-entry into the game much smoother and easier."

Pete Rose admitted to betting while still part of the MLB, but never bet on any game he was connected to either as a manager or player, and he's banned indefinitely. One of baseball's greatest players, with a record that will go untouched for years is banned for life for betting on the sport.

However, another baseball great is welcomed, essentially with open arms after he admits to using illegal performance enhancing drugs for nearly his entire career. It can be assumed that while Rose may have bet on baseball to increase his income, McGwire was using performance enhancing drugs that helped him break a near 40 year old record and land him multi-million dollar endorsements.

If McGwire is still eligible for entering the HOF after admittedly using illegal drugs, then Pete Rose should be eligible. Baseball's rules and regulations are so fucking ridiculous; use illegal performance enhancing drugs and you get a bunch of slaps on the wrist until your 4th time being caught, but you bet on a few games and you're banned for life.

St. Louis is the biggest bunch of baseball losers on the planet.
I swear to god, EVERYONE in this city BUT me is obsessed with baseball. Blah.

yeah what a shocking revelation this is

Sammy Sosa with his roids and his corked bats

Barry Bonds and McGwire with roids out the ass

All of their records should be struck from the books. Maris and Aaron are still the kings.

I grew up in south-central IL, but spent a ton of time in STL because my dad used to work for New York Life in the Mercantile tower downtown. So I kind of consider myself "from" St. Louis since it was the closest big city to the tiny town I grew up in (where there IS no other way to spend your free time other than watching the game).

You aren't alone, I fucking hate baseball too.

But I hate football and basketball as well.. so *shrug*

I'm sure pete will speak up about it, or some sort of controversy regarding his reinstatement to baseball will arise from all of this. I say if Bonds and McGwire get to have their records recognized in the HOF, then so should Pete Rose.

Mcgwire lives across the street from me, i talk to him a lot and he's really really nice guy. he always says hi to me and has conversations at the neighborhood gym. just a total class act, so im glad that he admitted to this because it was pretty obvious in the past, but the whole situation has really upset him, its very apparent. even i dont have the guts to talk to him about it because its just wrong, there is no reason to.

pluss since his brother wrote that book about him and that mcgwire is taking that job at St. Lewis as a batting coach it probably is a good place to start back up in the game by telling the truth.

It's not like we all didn't know, but I still give him props for coming out and saying it.

And I agree Rose is getting a raw deal on the whole thing...

Love that he said the home runs were a result of his swing, not because of strength. It was about 'backspin' on the ball is why it left the ball park.

Rose got kicked out because MLB didn't ENDORSE betting.

For those who saw him, Charlie Hustle is already in the Hall . . .

Big fucking deal baseball is boring, I never watched baseball until the year him and Sosa were jacking homeruns left and right. Call me crazy but I'd rather go to the dentist than watch a no-hitter. I'm all for pro athelete's doing juice, its more entertaining

Baseball is b.s. I am not following it next season. It is a game for nerds, just a numbers game. McGwire taking roids, no sh**. Guy was a solid 250 pounds and there aren't too many people at that weight that are basically solid muscle.
