[Romanian nightmare]

As the title says....

This is not by choice, but by necessity (at least for now). So my questions to the experts out there are:

1) What do you think?
2) Is it safe?
3) Can this do any damage to the car?

I wouldn't recommend doing so. Car won't handle optimally and it'll feel unstable. Fronts will feel stiff while rears will feel mushy. I would try my best do avoid it but to answer your question, it won't cause any damage to the car.

Thanks for the honest opinion. I also have the car in the local BMW shop to see if there is anything wrong. The car does vibrate more once i hit 80-90 mph....

Curious to see what they say.....will keep you posted.

Vibration is most likely not because the mix of non-rft and rft. It's most likely a balancing issue.

I think better mismatched brands front and back than mismatched RFT and non RFT.

i have the same thing on my car. It gets unpredictable at higher speeds. I do low speed city driving so it is not bad. Not something you want to do if you want peak performance.

+1 -- Can it damage your car? Well, sure, if you lose control at speed, it's likely to!

No damage to the car.... unless you run it into things.

The reason i did it is to finish up the RFT on the front and go +1 on Non-RFT.

Like the others have said...

1) I think it is not a good plan
2) No, as it causes unstable handling
3) Not directly...but when you lose control of the car it will.

So my local BMW shop said that I need to change the thrust arm bushings as well since they "may" also contribute to the shaking. What do you guys think?

As for the tires, the dealership said that they did not find anything wrong. They balanced all 4 tires again, just to make sure and the shaking is almost gone.

Thanks to all for your posts and while we all agree it's not the best combination, I'll just have to be extra careful.

hi, i have similar issue, but, vice versa.

is this gonna work or not?

my front tyres are practically new NON rtf, and back tyres are finished. i can get some NEW Michelin sp2 zp for low price.

is this gonna be a problem or not noticeable.

Really think you guys are over thinking this... I'm running PSS on rear for traction with ~500wtq and OEM RE050A up front... These have similar performance specs and I highly doubt this would cause an issue. Replacing them all with RE-11s but do as you please.

i'm not sure what you are saying here, but my doubt is

is it will be all ok, or noticeable if i get rft Michelin on rear.

if there be a problem, ill go to non rtf, but this will cost me much more then this rft. i wont replace all tires with RE-11s for sure.
