Suggestions for 18s
Seeing Mr.Lincoln's head. Time for new wheels.
Looking for suggestions for new 18" staggered rims for under $1k. Want a softer ride than RFTs and cheaper tires than 19s Prefer open spoke design for quick cleaning. Problem is most aftermarket rims are 19s.

True, most aftermarket wheels today that I see for BMW's are in 19" form only, but there are still some great 18" fitments that look great... I can think of a few from VMR and a few others from other companies that will be under your $1k budget.
Good luck on the search

Under $1K will not get you anything worth having. Sorry but that's the truth. Your budget will allow only for cast wheels made in China.
If you double your budget (I know it sounds scary at first) you can get a lot more (and better) options for 18" wheels.

VMR has plenty of 18" options. They're not as strong as most other wheels, but it really depends on your city/drive routes. I've had them on terrible roads for a while now and no bends whatsoever.

TSW Nurburgring 18s
I went with TSW Nurburgrings 18in staggered. 18x8 front with 235/40 and 18x9.5 rear with 275/35. I bought the whole set wheels and tires for just under $2,000. Great wheels and no problems...

Sportline CS.16 ! The wheel barrel is forged, they weight about 19.5lbs each, so about 6lbs per wheel lighter than VMR VB3 (which I also had before). I am very pleased with them. They cost $950 a set. These or Apex ARC-8 (if they produce the offsets that you need) but the Apex wheels are over $1000.

Well, the process is used by many companies: first a "wheel" is cast which has some thick aluminium frame instead of a true barrel, and then the frame is pressed/stretched (rotary forged) until it takes the final shape. This process is also used for the Advan RS wheels, ATS Racelight, Enkei Raijin, etc.

There are a number of good quality wheels you can get for under 1K that are not the standard Miro, VMR seen on every car on E90post
Google ASA AR1 or GT5 , Enkei or Beyern Rapp for some ideas Another options is to look for deals as an example you can get right now on Tirerack 4 lightweight 18X 8.5 O.Z. Alleggerita HLT (Matte Graphite Silver) for $249 each (instead of $435 each) Just north of 1K I would also check TRMotorsport MT1 or LTW5 from Turner Motorsport for some great wheels check out this thread for some wheel ideas http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=443942
