Not sure if this has been posted in here yet, but EFI Logics in CT had some very impressive results custom tuning their 135:

Quote:
This car is bone stock, all we added was an AccessPort and some custom tuning in house, and the car picked up 88hp and a WHOPPING 124ft/lbs of torque making a total of 341hp and 394wtq. The car picked up 28hp and 40ft/lbs over the Cobb OTS Mapping as well.

I wonder how high in the rev range that 16psi holds? Either they're running aggressive timing up top or they're holding boost taper to a minimum. I'm betting timing.
Either way, the potential is awesome!!!!

EFI is a very well known/respected shop, they do some great work. Can't wait to see what they can do on a fully modded N54.. that 135 was BONE STOCK!

I'm hoping there are Cobb custom tuners in my area, central VA is like a desert when it comes to competant tuners.

So any estimated time of arrival for the new Cobb stuff ? It seems they have deciphered many ECU innards lately and I am curious if they can finally produce maps that no one will complain, no oscillations, no dead spots, etc. And proper meth maps...

I suppose no bog is too much to ask...although this alone would be a reason to switch from any tune to Cobb.

I talked to Cobb and there telling me there's maybe only 20 whp
On pump
Gas left on the table.

Not sure if
It's worth Doing it yet.
I have a friend of mine who wants to protune it for me but don't want to be the first .He got the key 2 weeks ago but waiting for people to test it first .If you think about it ,stage + is aggressive and you still have to remember its pump gas and want to leave ro in case anything .A bad tank of gas good cause bad issues .Cobb told the next firmware there spicing about stage 2+ a bit more .

That tune is pushing it really aggressive for pump gas, glory run for sure...i'm sure that whoever owns it won't be heavily pushing the car on that tune for extended runs...i agree with the above, you have to leave some room on pump gas to be safe

its like my 471whp pump gas dyno...definitely doable, maybe even higher is possible and I can do a pull on it but i'd rather not worry, run meth and crank it up further or just lower it down a notch to 450, be safe and run it as hard as I wish...

Dezenno there looking to make so much power on pump with out thinking of downsides.Lets think about 19 psi peak and 13 psi taper with 9 * up top with stage 2+ to my knowledge ,there's very little left and who knows how many times it would knock when it sees real load conditions on the street .With all the bolt ons completely catless on pump making 415 whp is very impressive in my book.

I was just now looking throught the Cobb site and it looks like the closest place is Mooresville, NC. Ive been to mooresville a couple times with my buddy to get his single turbo camaro tuned at Williams performance and that whole area is a motorsports mecca

And i agree there's probably not much left PEAK power wise, but a custom tune for my mods should still be an improvement. Maybe a 93/E85 mix map while i'm down there...

sorry, no, just my fellow Canucks in southern Ontario

in general, a custom tune for the mods and a particular car should provide more gains but not leaps and bounds...

if I had to guess, basically what you see in the above dyno is the stage 2 or 2+ tuning running on a stock car, rebranded as a stage 1 by the pro tuner...just a hunch

Let's see what Cobb with this new map2 + their improving ,there fixing the flat spot am some others things .Always a custom tune is best but the BMW is different from other cars like subarus and evos .The map Cobb designed for us is a bit and beyond a base map.

EFI is very well respected, they don't just rebrand the stage 2 and call it a custom tune... They're one of the best subaru/gtr pro tuners around. They don't fuck around - there's a reason they're one of the first shops (if not- THE first) with the ability to pro tune the n54. Ask Cobb about them

sorry, didn't mean to disrespect at all and i don't know them...I'd just like to think that after 4 years with this platform we do and must know what stock turbos on a stock car on pump gas can/can't do "safely" for given boost/timing/afr...nonetheless, respectful numbers for a stock car for sure

the reason why i personally find this a lot more interesting, other than numbers, is that pro tuners are getting their hands on AccessTuner Pro and the platform is making progress, all i care about in the end

i know only as much as i posted, so i'm not going to discuss how safe or not that specific tune is. we all know custom will always be better - time will tell soon how much better now that we're getting closer to this. I just know how awesome EFI is, so i trust what they're doing.

+1 for EFI, very well respected subie tuner.

And, can anyone really say they know the "safe" limit of the n54? In subie land people replace shortblocks like we swap a set of wheels. I'd tend to think "safe" on the n54 has more to do with heat and it's associated effects on peripheral hardware, as compared to knock/det on most every other platform.
