Help E92 Stereo???
Okay so I bought a used 335i m-sport but the previous owner tore out the entire stereo, head unit, speakers, amp and cut most of the wiring
Maxxfish just sold me new door panels and interior out of his m3, great guy. I am going to put in the door panels which still have the stock speakers in them I am trying to figure out how to make this work. The car has a kenwood dnx8120 which I want to keep and I have installed an apline mrx-v70 which I want to keep to run stock speakers and underseat subs if I can? Do I need crossovers for the component speakers? Do I need to buy stock "blue" connectors? Currently Sound from head unit is being sent through RCAs to amp speaker wires are running from amp to aftermarket Alpine type r speakers which sounds good but they are installed in my old door panels. In a perfect world I would like to unplug the type r speakers and plug in the stock speakers. I do have a stcok Hifi amp courtesy of Maxxfish but... my amp harness was cut by previous owner. I will post some pics. Help please.

stock speaker attached to new panel does the tweeter just plug into this speaker then the other side just runs to the amp?
Wire harness in trunk, looks like Hifi to me, the hifi amp I have plugs right into the harness but the wires on far left?? look like Logic 7 stuff? Last pic is the front side of my new M3 door panel, very nice.

continuing my research in threads what is supposed to be under my trunk mat where those harnesses are?? Looks like something with a fan? maybe even something next to it? This is frustrating not knowing what I am missing.

The BMW systems have no real crossovers. ( I think they may have an inline cap on the tweeter line) If you have aftermarket speaker use whatever crossover comes with them. If you ever have to have programming done or software values changed in the car you will need the original head unit installed for the BMW repair computer to work with the car . You may be able to bypass this with a coding setup. (But BMW won't.) When you say under the trunk floor typically the TCU telephone control unit is under the floor in the center and satellite radio i believe. The amps are in the rear drivers side corner in the US next to the taillight assembly . If you have questions post more pictures that aren't such close ups. The large black connector with the lever is the amp connector the fiber optic lines are in one of the others . Last edited by ctuna; 11-12-2012 at 11:14 PM.. |

I have been to those links 100 times. If I have a hifi system will I also have fiber optic lines? I did a vin decoder and it said Hifi. Looks like maybe the two wires on the left went to a satellite radio module. The large black amp harness was right next to it right behind the rear seats not near the driver's side rear tailight like I have seen everyone elses.
I purchased a coding wire so that I could do some coding myself. but I was debating hooking up an OEM headunit somewhere else in the car, since I have lost the use of back up sensors steering wheel controls and seat belt warning noise with the aftermarket head unit.

Yes there will still be fiber optics in most Hi Fi setups
The pre and 09 cars came with pre wiring for a lot of stuff and even the Hi Fi has a fiber optic line run to the trunk for a cd changer. The fiber optic loop is used to add the blue tooth phone module , satellite radio and bmw assist.( Even in the Hi Fi)
See the electrical and entertainment system pdf Only the newer BMW's may not have a Most Bus from what I read. There are a bunch more technical pdf's here http://bmwcoders.com/forum/3-er-8/bm...1-e92-e93-291/ Last edited by ctuna; 11-13-2012 at 01:32 AM.. |

Last night I reverted the car completely back to stock. Stock Head Unit, Stock Hifi Stereo, replaced blown underseats. Turned in on and sound came out radio worked cd worked amp worked, underseats worked.
But... I am not getting dings, beeps, or bells? I am not getting any car noises like the seatbelt warning sound or the door open or key in ignition, or the PDC sound. The PDC lights up when I put in reverse but no sound when I got close to the garage wall. Is there a chance it was coded out by the previous owner?

This is just one of the threads from the coding board for pdc search = pdc returns a lot more at that sub forum. pdc runs of the rear channels are those working ? |

Yes, all speakers work correctly. I also noticed that I do not have a speaker under the driver's side footwell. There is a place for one but no speaker. Some places I have read some models the sound comes from the driver's footwell and others that it comes through the regular speakers.
