Teaser: OEM BMW PERF BBK on prelci 330xi

So i've had this set of oem 135i brakes sitting in my parts bin for the last year now in hopes of fitting it on my prelci 330xi with no luck. These are essentially the same brakes as the yellow BMW Perf. brakes except for the cross drilled rotors. Everyone says they've tried, saying its just not possible to fit any BMW Perf brake kit on an XI without getting custom brackets/carriers made. Since this car is a daily driver, i didn't wanna risk safety at all.

Yes, i've done my due dilegence and research discussing with various members on this forum and i pretty much gave up on this project until i saw a local member (Andy1991) post up his lci 335xi with the BMW Perf. brakes on his car, i was stunned! Immediately sent a PM his way and after a short visit to my buddies over at Alphawerx, low and behold...

I was just about to PM you buddy.

Proper pics to come shortly. I was kinda skeptical that my shop could do it, so i only brought one side to test fit. 20 mins later it was on, i couldn't believe it. They had to put stock brakes back on since i couldn't run the perf. brakes on one side and stock on the other. lol

I hope Andy1991 won't mind, but this was taken today at the local meet of his LCI 335xi with the front BMW Perf brakes installed on his car. It clearly fits, with very little modification to the heat shield and spindle. No custom carriers/brackets guys.

Yep, also got the rear caliper/rotors. Apparently the rear calipers from the 135/bmw perf. brakes will fit on the stock rotors so we'll find out tomorrow. I dropped off the car with the guys at Alphawerx earlier this evening.

perfect, yeah i also read the rear caliper only fit stock rotor, but from here this is a performance kit from Tishcer for E90 330i, and from the compability for i and xi are the same in rear. Good luck to you tomorrow

The guys at Alphawerx sent a teaser pic earlier this evening. Front brakes are on, but making the rear calipers fit my stock rotors was unsuccessful. The rear rotors on the 330xi are much bigger than the 135i/bmw performance rear rotors, so really no point in going to a smaller rotor.

I'll be picking up the car tomorrow after i dial some camber in the rear to get rid of some minor rubbing and a finally a 4-wheel alignment since the suspension has settled by now.

I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to fit them on a 08' e93 335i.

Brake bias as in the brake force distribution between the front and rear tires? Well, now that i've converted the front brakes to a six piston, i'm gonna assume i have more gripping power upfront.

My stock brakes:

Front Brake Rotor Diam x Thickness (in) 13.0 x 0.94
Rear Brake Rotor Diam x Thickness (in) 13.2 x 0.87

Performance brakes:

front 13.3-in vented disc; abs
rear 12.8-in vented disc

According to my shop, programming of the dsc module can be done but only if i'm experiencing brake fade. Majority of the guys who install Brembo aftermarket brakes will not have done so. Until i experience brake fade, i'll leave it as is.

A guy I know had to have his BMWP BBK coded to adjust for the greater stopping power up front. I'm thinking about going down the route of 135i front on my car because I've only got a 320i and it's not worth spending extra on the Perf ones. I think 320i set up is similar to 323/325 - do you have any idea whether the 135i brakes would be easy to transfer over to those? I've read about confusion amongst 335/330xi/i etc.. but maybe it will be more clear to do on a lower spec car?

The stock 135i brakes are the same as the BMW Perf. brakes. As far braking dynamics go, and comparing my front stock vs front perf brakes, i think i'm fine with my setup. I've been driving with my setup for almost 2 weeks now and i can say braking feel and stopping power has marginally improved over stock. Aside from going from stock 4pot to 6pot calipers, I only increased my front rotor size from 13" to 13.3". If anything, i'm getting a bit more brake bias upfront. My intensions for this swap was not for a track setup but street use, cosmetics, and marginally improving brake performance which i have achieved.

My intentions are exactly the same. It's just that there is a guy over on 1addicts selling his brakes and I'm not sure whether or not to get them. Seeing as brakes are such an important part of the cars functionality I don't want to go f*cking around with them.

So front brake retrofit = 100% fine as its essentially the same as PBK (but not slotted/drilled rotors).

Rear brake - I've read that the 135i caliper can be placed on stock rotor for models other than 335/330i. Do you think it's worth a stab with the 135i brakes? I'm thinking front swap + rear calipers on current rotors. Hopefully different calipers on same rotor won't affect safety. Or just be safe and go 135i front kit only? Did you get pad sensors/brake wear sensors as part of your kit?

Front for PBK and 135 are the same, rears are not. PBK can fit 330i/xi and 335i/xi at rear, but 135 cannot without certain modification. Not sure about 328 or 325, i heard you can just use the caliper with the stock rotor for 328/325.

Hope this helps~

The problem is that the brackets that the rear calipers go on are not the same. Some said that you could get a custom fabricated bracket to make it fit....but I have yet to see someone do that.

If it were simple, you would see alot of 1er selling their stock brakes to the 3er (328/325/330) guys when they get some aftermarket BBK. But you will be hard to find any threads about people showing up their full 1er kit on their car. Mainly because, once they tried and it did not work...most just bought another BBK instead. Not many want to spend that kind of money just to change the fronts only.
