Why couldn't you just push the reflector from the outside after heating the tape? Isn't it just stuck on the back of a hole in the bumper, or am I missing something in the assembly?

Thanks Long.

I decided to use an old credit card (harder ID card will do), to get in between the bumper and doublesided tape.

After heating up with a blow dryer briefly, i slid the plastic card behind the bumper in between the tape and reflector and was able to just slide it along the tape and pulled off the reflector with minimal bending of the bumper.

Longtran had a group buy at one time, but it's way over with. you can buy the relfectors from BMW and have them painted.....probably around 115 bucks for it all.....or Bimmian.com has them for sale. they are not due in till march. i ordered them, but got tired of waiting and bought a set from someone who no longer had their car. Guess i will be selling them when i get them.

Questions:

What adhesive (3m tape?) can I use if I want to paint the current reflectors then reinstall them? Should I look for a certain thickness?

Do brand new OEM side reflectors come with pre-applied adhesive?

Added up the price of primer, factory match paint, clearcoat spray cans + shipping. I figure I just order them painted from **********s. Skip the 3M tape and X-acto cutting job.

Does anyone know if **********s painted reflectors come with adhesive?

Also, do new reflectors purchased at the dealer come with adhesive?

Thanks

Don't know about the one's at the deal but the bimmam ones do come with adhesive. Seeing as **********s sells bimman I'd imagine those do too.

The **********/Bimian ones do come with the 3M adhesive tape. However, be aware that the color might not match well. I bought AW ones and I'm going to redo them.

what's the best way to remove the extra double-sided tape after you have removed the reflector? Did you just rub it off, or did you use goof-off or something like that?

Just roll it up using your finger, it comes off easily.
