Best Brake Pads / Replacement Process:
Hi all,
I just purchased a 06 325xi. Don't quite need brakes yet but I want to see how to go about it when I do.... So correct me if I'm wrong.... The on board computer will indicate when I need to change them? I have some minor squealing sound sometimes but everything is performing great. Anyways, at the time I want to change them: What are the best brakes under $300-400 with new cross slotted / dimpled rotors. Is it a good idea to convert my brakes to them? What are the best pads in the market? I hate brake dust! Does my car have two sensors that need to be replaced? One on each side? |

1. Check out the ECS Geomet rotors.
2. Doesn't hurt anything, but you probably don't need them. Like me, you don't have a speed demon car. If you don't get them, check out Zimmermann rotors. 3. Check out cool carbon pads or Akebono ceramics, 4. Your car has one sensor on front driver and one on rear passenger. Get BMW Genuine sensors. They are guaranteed to work and are usually less than $10 more than the aftermarkets. - There are great DIYs here and on YouTube, use them. - Expect 30-40 minute per wheel if this is your first time. - Get new pad sensor clips, the old ones were very brittle when I did my sensors. - Don't forget to clean and apply anti-sieze (like this http://www.liqui-moly.com/liquimoly/...cument&land=US) your hubs when you put your new rotors on. I used a wire brush attachment for my power drill to clean them. - Get some CRC Brake Quiet for the compound you put between your pads and calipers. Look at Autohausaz.com, the ended up having the best total price for me from 1 place.
