There is a short somewhere. Same thing happened to me when I just pulled off the module and didnt do any wiring.

Double check all your connections and the pin numbers

If you mean that I need to always use the old PNRD module and that I cannot bypass it, then :

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=806412

Threethrytyfive has managed to bypass it...

No- you don't need to use the old blue module- check my pics Im using the manual shift boot with no module.

Your wiring needs to be correct from the blue harness plug and the white harness plug to your DCT shift knob. If you have anything shorted the DS mode won't work, there needs to be connection between the blue and white harness.

well, I checked again everything and no shorts ... ??
This is my config for the mode/led:

R --> R
N --> N
D --> CENTER ARROW
M/S --> D/S and the - / +

Is it allow to do so?

@big_c
I see you have +/- and center arrow lighting up together.
I will try this combination.

BTW,
I have pin 1 from Blue connector not connected... (as shown on schema 1)
I have a pre lci so schema 1 match my car config.

blue connector :
pin 1 is not used
pin 2-3 are illum +/-
pin 4 is M/S
pin 5 is +12v
pin 6 ???

maybe I should connect pin 4 and pin 6...
I'll give it a try

Sooooo ...
Answer to myself...

on the very first schema, instead of using the "power connector" to have illumination, you can use the pin 2 & 3 of the blue connector. (pin 1 is not connected)

If you have DS not working then you have to connect pin 4 (M/S) to pin 6 ...
which is not shown in the schema but mentioned a bit after in posts related to LCI car connector... and that's it ! It works like a charm !

well, some feedback and questions...

So everything is working fine BUT I just realize that when the car goes into sleep mode then the blue #5 pin (+12v in EU) (USA is pin #1) will switch to 3,5v and connect pin #6 which will light up my + and - leds...

on the first schema, pin 6 is not used ... but on my car I need to connect pin #6 ou pin #4 to enable DS mode...

Again no shorts, everything is fine except this issue.

Any ideas guys?

The problem is the car putting 3,5v on the blue connector when going to sleep between pin 4 and 6 ...

What Gives?

Has anyone else had issues with this shift knob staying secure? I only noticed one other poster mention the knob would spin once installed?

I did notice the stick portion of the shifter did not match up. Meaning the tongue inside the knob was different than the grove on my shifter rod.

This is correct.

When the car is in sleep mode, I also get the +/- lights activated. This is similar to how the P would light up on the old module.

True, it will spin... put some tape or teflon or cut the stick with a dremel (I'm planning to do it)

The P light is lighting up for something like 25 min when car is off and in sleep mode.
I rebuild the whole wiring ... but this time I decided to use the blue module...
So I think now everything is ok : I tried every mode and all seem to work as expected. Then when the car goes off (start/stop engine button goes off) only P is lighting up as normal. I tried to wait a bit but it's too late here (1am!) so I'll see tomorrow. With the blue module I use the very first schema and didn't connect pin 4 & 6 ...

wait and see

I'll post some pics once finish

I would prefer not to use tape to secure the knob to prevent spinning. (It just doesn't sound like it would fix the problem 100%) But cutting the rod sounds like a good idea. I wonder if you could use a dremal and cut a groove in the rod to secure the knob?

With all of the guys that have done this upgrade one would think the solution is known but was not listed in any of the diy's I read.

that's my plan and by doing so you will lower the knob a bit which would be perfect. The bad side is that you will no more be able to fit the original knob... but who cares?

Btw, everything is fine and working as expected!
Really one of the best visual interior mod! A must have!

Nice well done bro.

Definitely agree that its a must do mod on the E90. Just feels and looks so much better...transforms the interior. The stock knob really does look like dog sh*t
