It is probably the nicest theater around town...

I believe the Bimmerforum guys are doing a similar thing down at the waterfront as well.

I will try to make it, but the following week I have my finals. I'd know for sure when the date gets closer

Wow, get this. I spend the better part of the week putting everything back on the car. FINALLY finished up tonight. Had a buddy bugging me to go grab a drink with him, so I quickly wrapped it up and was going to do the test drive to his place. Since it was the initial test drive I didn't put the cowl or ecu cover on. I was having so much fun, the car is an absolute terror now, can spin in 3rd for a good bit of time. Half way to his house I figure I'd swing in and out of the car wash. FAIL. My head must not have been screwed on. I pull in to the car wash and as it's blasting the sides of my car upon entry I noticed steam... figure it's just hitting my underside exhaust (fail again for not realizing). I pull in and half way through the wash I go into limp mode. I brush it off as thats what a test drive is for. I pull out of the wash and run my BT Tool and see these random codes I've never seen before. Just then the car pretty much dies on me. I sit for about 20 seconds, retracing every step of EVERY install, and just can't figure out why it's throwing these codes....

Then... I realize...

HOLY SHIT. FML.

The steam I saw was from water entering under the hood and running across the turbos! (not necessarily bad, but a sign something is leaking)

I shut off the car immediately, pop the hood, rip out almost every electronic piece I can think of (ALL WAS SOAKED), I go for the ecu and the cap on the top of it where ALL the plugs run into was absolutely full of water. I seriously almost lose it right there and jump infront of the next car (kidding). I literally dismantle everything, take the ecu out of my car, lay it on the side of the road as it's dripping water, and run across the street to the taco bell for napkins. Anyways, I sit for the next 1.5 hours trying to soak everything up. Literally, there was water in every connection in the ECU box. I've never removed half the plugs I just did tonight. I figure I'll be footing a 5k bill for a new ECU plus whatever other electrical shit I just fried.

Anyways, I plug everything back in, clear all the codes, start it up and thank god it looks like everything is fine. Our computers are tanks FYI. I'll show you guys what happened at the next meet. I can't really describe it here.

Ian glad to hear you drove away, true sign of a bmw fan that has a BT tool in the trunk but no towel...

"slipping in 3rd" damn I was happy with my JB+ as my non-bmw friends get nervous in the passenger seat, but here we go again with the mod bug. ]]

That's a good idea, didn't think about it. Thanks

Question, I'm sure the connections were semi-damp when I tested it again. Everything was fine, what could I do to prevent rust on the prongs? Would wd-40 work in this case also?
