Fog Light: Mod to turn on automatically

Anyone know of a mod to have the fog lights go on, along with the other lights, when the light switch is in auto mode? I think this might just be a wiring job.

I like how the car looks when the fog lights are on, but I hate having to turn them on manually. I know some other cars have it programmed so that they turn on automatically. This would be nice to have.

Also, anyone know if it's legal to have these on when there's no fog?

Thanks!

I think its illegal to have them on when there is no fog and it is very bright and bothersome for people behind you. I dont think its a good idea. just my opinion. I love the way they look on too. Is it really that bothersome to just hit the button?...lol

i had a thread a while back asking the same thing but in all honestly it would require a lot of wiring and relays and such and if something goes wrong there goes your warranty

just press the button

You mean High beams? Fogs cut out the second you hit your high beams.

Well im assuming that if you hack your car you could wire them to come on at the same time.

Fog lights can be used anytime.

I have a problem with my fog lights, they stay on even with the High Beams, for that reason i wasnt able to pass my state inspection. Does anyone has any idea in how to fix this?

I was thinking what it could be
1. Relay for the fog lights
2. The turn signal switch (is not sending the signal to the relay to turn off the fog lights)
3. I dont know.

Those two are the only things that i can think of, anybody else?

For California, see the Revised Code of California...or read here

http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/wa...ction=retrieve

Paragraph 24405

"24405. (a) Not more than four lamps of the following types showing
to the front of a vehicle may be lighted at any one time:
(1) Headlamps.
(2) Auxiliary driving or passing lamps.
(3) Fog lamps.
(4) Warning lamps.
(5) Spot lamps.
(6) Gaseous discharge lamps specified in Section 25258.
(b) For the purpose of this section each pair of a dual headlamp
system shall be considered as one lamp.
(c) Subdivision (a) does not apply to any authorized emergency
vehicle."

Are your fogs factory or aftermarket? That is not normal.

I had my last car setup to rock, lows, high, and Fogs at the sametime. (I only drive like this in the mountains on backroads, mostly for animals and debris on the road).

You can try wiring them to the angel eyes with a diode in between. There is a thread that talks about wiring the angel eyes as DRLs and they wire the AEs to the cigg lighter.

Well wire the fogs to the AEs, which IIRC, was pin #2. Put a diode in between to prevent an error...the diode specs are in that DIY.

If yours do then it is a violation of Federal law. Your car did NOT come that way.

FYI...when you pull the stalk TOWARD you to "flash-to-pass," the fogs STAY ON.

When you push the stalk away from you, the fogs are OFF.

Make sure your car is doing this....like others have said it is illegal for the fogs to be on with the high beams.

In some BMW cars it is possible to code the fog lights to come on with the DRL and also code them to turn off whenever you turn your high beam on.

Correct. Federal regs allow for more one set of lights to be illuminated momentary when signaling or when switching from low to high beam.

Flash-to-pass is not considered high beam.
