Isn't the Helix great man ....... installed mine Friday and really can't believe the difference. I also noticed the exhaust note is MUCH lower now ... NO complaints!

Today was logging some AIT with the Helix and BMS boost gauge:
Outside temp. 80
Pulls from 60 to Speed Delimiter
1. 113
2. 117
3. 121
All peak numbers .
Normal driving always between 90-100 depending speed.
Very happy with the Helix intercooler :-)

I am trying to pick between the Helix and the Active Autowerke. There is a good groupbuy for $800 but you will have to wait a few weeks to receive it. The AA is also running a special for only $920 and you can get it now. They make quality stuff but it will require a little trimming.

The Helix also required a small amount of trimming.

On.
You'll need someone to help hold the bottom bumper out to slide the Helix into place. Even with the aero lip installed the IC fit without removal. I posted a pic of what needed to be trimmed on the Helix GB thread.

No trimming if you have the MTech front end. The trimming only includes the pieces on the OEM bumper. They'd still have to be trimmed if the bumper was removed to prevent the fins on the IC from being dented.

This was so worth the wait. Cool .....

Kelvin, AA is close to you too and available now. I have the IC and did an extensive review if you want to read it. Simply put the AA is quality in every aspect. I think you would be very, very pleased with it. Plus AA is local to you!

I have read your review and found it great (thanks for writing it)... part of the reason that I am leaning towards the AA. Just a little concerned about the cutting (and the crazy gluing...)

The other being the great price and local presence as well as the excellent reputation they have in the BMW community.

im waiting to install my Helix too (just got it from the gb). Do you think it will help if i just cut off the fins? do those actually do anything besides looking stupid? i've the front mesh taken out anyways (cuz of hide away license plate) but been waiting for the chance to cut off the fins. will that help the install or still traimming involved?

The cutting if you have a dremmel is a 5 minute job. The glue is just to seal the compartment. If you want, I am sure you can zip tie it as well.

Go to the group buy thread in the sponsors section and ask to be put on the wait list. The wait list will become the next GB list. There are already over 40 people on the wait list to claim the next production batch.
