Great addition. Looking forward to using this at the drag strip to better dial in my car and making sure the engine is happy.

OK BACK ON TOPIC! No flame wars. Stop being children.

Shiv its cool you're doing this.

Its not "revolutionary" as Cobb is already doing it, and I wanted to ask that basic question not to start a debate.

Lets move on kids

I know this is a procede thread, but would like to know what Cobb has been doing, other than monitoring the individual cylinders, that is. Anybody care to share?

Nice job Shiv!

Couple comments about the negative peeps, or one person. They mention this is only for monitoring… how the F do you think this is used in a flash. And same exact situation when you load up log channels… sample rate is reduced.

For the cylinder noise… this log looks to be lower rpm and the load changes are more abrupt. Both of these will cause more visible cylinder variances compared to a WOT log with more gradual load change.

Anyway, looking forward to the details.

the AP lets you monitor all cylinders yes. COBB uses that information when tuning the car and so their tunes account for timing on all cylinders rather than tuning for cyl1 only.
now that the proceed has this capability, Shiv will likely use that info to refine his tunes.

Why else would the DME react and make timing corrections?

In all applications (regardless of tune), the DME monitors individual cylinder knock noise/timing. It's just been the case that only the Cobb flash offered indiv cylinder timing as a luggable option. The other tunes didn't have that logging option. But the reaction to indiv cylinder knock was the same. Since we have the ability to make profound changes to ignition control logic, the Procede will do a little more than that.

Agreed and that's exactly what I wrote above

That was the point of the log. If they weren't noisey, you wouldn't see 6 individual curves as they would be on top of each other

Great feature for the procede users. Autotune on an individual cylinder logic basis would be kinda awesome.

So which cylinder was the noisiest? It follows that you will likely autotune based on the noisiest cylinders for global operation. Hows the activity with meth? Youre still using 80/20 mix?

edit: +1 for 7-11/7-29 implementation

Autotuning cyl timing doesn't seem like a great idea. Just from what I've seen in my logs(and other users) timing in cylinders isn't very consistant. Sometimes cyl 2 is noisiest, sometimes it's 5 and other times it's #1. I would just prefer to have it as it is and globally target a degree and make corrections as need be.

I'm not sure exactly what Shiv plans on doing but historically he seems to have a good approach and understanding of tuning theory.

I would imagine it would take into consideration each cylinder and auto tune on a cylinder to cylinder basis, that would be the ideal approach.

Mentioned above, every tune at the end of the day already adjusts ignition based on knock on a cylinder to cylinder basis.

What I meant is that on my engine the noisey cylinder isn't always the same.

It seems to me that the ignition timing/knock detection system used by the DME is VERY good as is. But I'm interested to see what shiv does, as long as the readings are actual CAN outputs not calculations made by the PROcede.
