Its a BMW part number with 2 short plug in wiring adapters. Simple plug and play on US vehicles. Got them from my BMW dealer when I purchased the taillights. Not sure if its a different number for Euro vehicles. Here is the US kit part number which includes both sides.

on a 2006 e91 model with xenons can you not change your frm1 to a frm2 xe module or is the only way the 'bulb delete check' route??

Hi I'm a newbie and admittedly didn't read the entire thread... (edit: read everything now)

Can BMWhat app be used for this coding on a 2009 E92?

No, you need k+dcan cable and NCSexpert to do it.

Hey guys I just picked up some used LCI tails and I'm pretty familiar with coding. I've done many things including netodat customization. I've never edited a VO before though.

I understand that I need to code out bulb checks our else I get flickering on start up. However what is new to me is what I'm hearing about a fast blink for the turn signals. Someone said a resistor needs to be put in place.

Is this actually true or can this be fixed in code? And if so what?

I've considered getting a retrofit wiring harness but they're like $100 just for some wires. So instead I bought the plastic connectors from the dealership for $5 a peice and I was just going to re-pin the connection myself. However after reading about the fast blinks maybe these wiring harnesses have said resistor in-line?

How do I tell which FRM I have? I at least have FRM2 but would like to know if I have 2 or 3.

Can anyone comment about the fast blink?

My LCI tails came with the BMW retrofit wiring harness and I still got the fast blinkers. I have an FRM2 and added +MUEB to the VO, which didn't fix the bulb out errors, and the first 2 blinks were fast before they slowed down to normal each time I restarted my car. So I then coded out all the bulb checks like the first post in this thread points out and now everything works perfectly. I think adding +MUEB to the VO just made it so the light strips in the tail lights are always on even when the headlights are turned off (knob turned to 0). I also coded out the error checks for the rear fogs by mistake, but I think the +MUEB is what turned on the rear DRL full time.

I have a .pdf of how to code the VO with NCS expert although I'm sure you can find something similar from a google search, but send me a PM if you don't have any luck.

OK thanks, so based on what you said. Ignore the stuff about a resistor. Don't bother changing the VO. Just code out the stuff on post #1 and I should be set.

Also has anyone tried what I'm about to attempt, directly wiring instead of using the over priced harness? Can you link me to the wiring pinout?

Just to conclude, I bought a harness from my local BMW dealer. $70 canadian and it came over night. Seemed like a better option than ordering one online, but still a rip off.

I'm surprised the aftermarket doesnt undercut the OEM harness. Seemed like the same price after shipping and would take longer.

Anyway, I hooked it up, coded NFRM with the options you guys recommended and I was good to go. I recommend using NCS Dummy, the english descriptions made the choices obvious. I just coded out all search terms for "hot" and "cold" that referenced rear lights.

For clarity I called my local dealer and ordered this part based on this sheet I found (part 61 12 2181307)

Can you expand on this a bit. It's my understanding that the rear fogs dont work at all in north america as the button for it on the light control area is physically disabled. See this post for a DIY on how to enable the button (http://www.fastm.com/e92m3/rearfog.html).

I found this odd since there is a bulb there still, just never used.

Can anyone here explain why i still get, bulb out error and fast blinking from my turn signals? Both warm and cold turn signal test where set to nicht_aktiv. This was done before i fully installed LCI lights, but we tested it and no errors at that time. Now that the LCI rear is completed, it gives me the error. Mostly the first blink is normal then i get the bulb error and fast blinking starts.

Can it forget that it was coded out or do i need to get something else coded out? Car is Europe version.

I had the same problem with you be4, I have tested and you must code out these 6 items:

NFRM

KALTUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_H -> nicht_aktiv
KALTUEBERWACHUNG_BL -> nicht_aktiv
KALTUEBERWACHUNG_BFD -> nicht_aktiv

WARMUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_H -> nicht_aktiv
WARMUEBERWACHUNG_BL -> nicht_aktiv
WARMUEBERWACHUNG_BFD -> nicht_aktiv

My car is a 08 E92 EU, hope it helps

Thanks for the help. We tried to code everything off, but it didn't help. Finally we found out what to do. After coding out the warm and cold test we had to take the minus cable off from battery and after awhile put it back. This fixed the issue and no more errors and only thing that are coded out are those warm and cold test.

For a e92 2009, can I just simply disable warm and cold check?

Don't forget you need the new trunk lid as well???

You don't need a new footwell module (FRM) you can code out warm and cold bulb checks. See here:

Is he doing an e90 or e92. No new trunk needed for e92. Also no need for new frm as far as I know. I did the retrofit in my 09 e92 and I just coded out the bulb checks.
