What's everyone paying for tire and wheel protection?

The dealer I am purchasing my car from in NY wants $1400!!! for my 3 year 30k mile lease.

I know NY is more expensive but what has everyone else paid?

I paid $750 for a MAP road hazard contract - 3 years with no mileage restrictions. Dealer said they're getting on average 1.8 claims /customer/yr. So very good chance I'm going to need it.

The claim number sounds like bs. That really depends on the area... NY and such I can see, but definitely not texas. (imho dealers are not horrible sources of information, specially when it comes to them trying to sell things to you)

^ Really.. Definitely not Texas? Maybe not quite as bad but still, good chance for road hazard here in DFW I think. They were originally asking $850, and I baulked so they dropped it to $750. This is my first BMW (it's a new 328 sedan), but I've had friends who have bent wheels and had problems with the RFT's. So I think it's worth it.

I want it bad but I don't want to pay 1400. So torn on what to do. I'm gonna try to pretend like I don't want the car anymore because I need the insurance but don't wanna pay 1400 and see what they come down to.

I paid just over 650 3 yrs ago for my wheel and tire protection. 13k miles and 36 months later (yeah, short commute), I've used it twice, both for nails in the RFTs... so it's pretty much paid for itself. I'm pretty certain that I wouldn't pay 1400 though...

Not yet -- the finance add-ons "salespeople" haven't gotten to me yet

It seems like it's a LOT more these days.

That's why I was curious what they are asking for it on the west coast just to see if it's around the area these jokers are asking me for it.

I'm torn whether or not to let it go or take it. 1400 makes the payment go up a nice amount.

I wonder if you can purchase it from another dealer. Do you know?

I've heard that you can get it from a third party... but that was a while back.

Such a hard decision, if I do get it and my dumb ass pays 1400. You better believe my tires will be running over a lot of nails every 8-10k miles LOL

This is a negotiable item. I am paying $978 INCLUDING TAX for 5 yrs on a replacement only plan. That means that for even the smallest leak (i.e. nail/glass/etc.) they replace, not repair the tire (and/or wheel if damaged).

Benz...you should be able to get them to reduce the price on this. 3 years should cost significantly less.

Good luck!

I'm certainly going to try to get the price down. I may say no deal if I can't chop them down and see what they do.

335is? In NY?

Last time I checked it doesn't ship with 17" rims and all-seasons.

I bargained them down to $450 three years ago. Thanks to an exposed NYC sewer drain, I came out ahead!

$1,300, or $36 a month, is going to seem like a bargain after your first bubble/bent rim.

Unless i missed something, who said anything about a 335is?

You got a great deal on the insurance. The best I could get was $977 for 5 years (replacement). It seems prices have gone up!

If I can't get a price lower than $600, I'll take my chances.

That said, I'm not surprised that $1,300 or $1,400 may be the going rate for M-Sport or 335is 18s.

My bad...didn't see his sig.

You probably can get $600 or so if you select 3 years. For 5 years the dealer's cost is around $899.

If you do better for five years (replacement only), please let us know!

1800 in Feb. for five years with my CPO. Bought it and then returned it after seeing what wheel sets/tires sell for here.
I just wonder if they do replace tires if they get a nail in them. The paperwork is pretty vague.
