Touch Up Paint? Good or stay away?

hey guys, I have a few stone chips on the hood (no chip is larger than 3mm in diameter). I wanted to get them fixed before I install a clear bra (yes, I should have done this when I picked up the car hehe.. hindsight is 20/20).

Do you think space grey is a good recipient of touch paint? would it blend without being too noticeable unless you walk straight up to it?

your opinions have always been appreciated, thanks!

Rather than using the brush that is included with the touch-up paint; go to a body shop or bs supply store and get the touch-up applicators they use use/sell.
They are little more than the size of a toothpick with a small piece of cotton attached at one end. They work great and it is nearly impossible to screw up if you're aware of what you're doing.
And to answer your question, I think it would be fine. Keep in mind that whatever touch-up you do needs to have time to cure before the clear bra is installed. Otherwise, if the clear bra is ever removed it will adhere to ANY chips that existed and pull the paint right off with the bra.

Something like this:

Where would you get something like that? Does the dealership sell it? Wal-mart? Art store?

thanks guys!

Tony, thanks for the FYI for the aero lip. I finally had time to install it yesterday afternoon and it's sitting in the garage now while the betalink cures. Bad news is I got a nice glob of it on my finger (i even double gloved my hands UGH!)

Any body shop will have them and (in my experience) normally won't charge for them. They work really well in controlling the amount of paint that's actually applied to the car.

LOL! @ the glob
Anytime bro.
Looking forward to seeing pics of the new & improved bimmer! Btw, are you having the clear bra installed on the new aero lip too then? I decided not too since the only part painted is the center which, imho, is the least likely area to receive any paint damage. ......

Careful, you can go blind doing that.

P.S. You may not have searched, but I'm glad you brought up this topic because the conversation has been helpful to me, FWIW.

I didn't really like Lanka - not worth the money in my book - try Dr. Colorchip, it seems to work better for me and comes with the paint!

I did a search but I obviously didn't have enough patience to go through all the results

Lanka just uses whatever paint you have, so usually just the bmw touch up paint. Dr. Colorchip sends you a custom mix of their paint by your color code - they don't do base clear like bmw touch up, but a single step glossy color which works better in my book!
