Park Distance Control Retrofit?

Hello!

I recently purchased a BMW 335 2010, and I had wanted to get PDC with it, but it was magically left off of the order sheet...(there were a few things left off, and I caught most of them, except the park distance control ).

Now, I'm looking for a retrofit (if it's available) that's for the rear bumper...and that hooks up to the iDrive system. The dealer isn't giving me much leeway here...saying that it's my fault for not reading the order sheet properly (which I admit, okay, I missed 1 thing, but that sheet had like 100's of things on it), and I'd have to go with an aftermarket option (I don't want to mount something that beeps. I'd prefer OEM hooking up with iDrive...)

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? (Besides the usual, learn how to park.....because if you've had PDC before, you're more than likely to be mentally handicapped once you don't have it).

Thanks!!

The German aftermarket catalog has an OE retrofit kit. PM me and I'll dig out the part number for you.

Hmm. I know of a retrofit, but not one that is bumper based/idrive integrated. The one I know of is license plate and just has you install a speaker. Can someone elaborate as to this version, if it isn't the one I know of?

The US dealers don't have the capability to program the PDC unfortunately.

I wanted to add PDC on my 08 335 and couldn't find it. Closest thing to it is the rear camera BMW can program into your I drive. I was quoted for the BMW parts & install around $1,000-$1,200. Much steeper than getting PDC with the car. GL

My question is actually referring to the E90 missing from that OEM PDC retrofit document and what could be the difference between the E90 and the E92/E93 PDC retrofits.

What does autologic or INPA mean?

I have a e90 sedan, but as someone else asked, is there a huge difference in terms of e92/e90 wiring and bumpers (I imagine those are the only things relevant to PDC). So if I order the part from the German aftermarket, do you know how I could possibly get the programming in?

Well, I think electronically it's all the same. So I will lookup part numbers for E90 retrofit as well as number of the document in EBA later today.

Autologic or INPA are tools which can help to change the Vehicle Order, the list of options programmed in your car. Basically it's very simple. After this your car will know that it have PDC in the system. After this additional programming may be required, but dealer can do it with their standard procedures.

I will post here part numbers and number of the installation document, so you can order it from your dealer.

So... Part numbers:

1. Rear PDC retrofit kit:
66 20 0 399 633

2. Front PDC retrofit kit:
66 20 0 399 629

3. Front and rear PDC retrofit:
You will need 1&2.

Additionally you will need PDC sensors (4 or 8 respectively):
66 20 0 393 938

As well you will need to purchase PDC ECU, part number depends on production date.

If you are making front PDC retrofit, you will need middle console buttons, which depends on your options as well.

EBA number (number for installation instruction like PDF in this thread): 0399631.

Sorry to ask more questions, but my dealer hasn't been too helpful...so for the PDC ECU, if I give you the production date, do you know what I need to get in order to get it ordered?

And to make it better to understand, I need 1,2, and the PDC sensors, PDC ECU, and I should be good to go? Now, someone said that US dealers don't have the code to do it, so does that mean I can't take it to them and ask them to do it for me?

FYI: just the 8 sensors cost is $1300 minimum with, no harnesses, no trim, no ECUs, no labor and no programming yet.

I believe you can get them much cheaper from ebay. I remember a guy from UK who was constantly selling the for $40 each, new from Bosch.

Yes, give me your production date or last 7 digits of the VIN.
Do you have iDrive? Do you have heated seats? Rear sunshade? AWD?

+you will need the center console buttons.

Dealers software do not have an ability to change Vehicle Order, so you need to find somebody with the right tools (INPA or Autologic).

A515896 is the last 7 digits.

Hrm, so I'd have to take it to an INPA or autologic shop?

Yes, I have iDrive, heated seats, and AWD (no sunshades)

EDIT: If I were to get the rear view camera retrofit...I also need it to be reprogrammed, right?
