Hillsdale is nice. Only 30 minutes to S.F or to San Jose. With a 335i on HWY 280---- you will be in the teens either direction.

Air Quality is better as you go north from San Jose and it gets cooler as well. Moderate Summer (mid 90s) and all the other months is about the same (high 60s to high 70s).

first find out the city where you business and career would flourish then look at rent and house prices in surrounding cities and balance that against reported crime rates.

If fun is main factor then socal is a no brainer.

I live in San Jose and to me, it isn't that bad. Considering I live on the East Side of San Jose and drive everywhere. Sure you'll see 'ghetto' parts of the city but nothing extremely bad ever happens. So, looking at safety, I have to say it's pretty good. However, the night life here isn't that great, but Santana Row is a great spot to hit up if you don't feel like driving to the city (San Francisco). As for cost of living here, it all depends on where you're going to pick because it will vary. If you choose the Silver Creek, Evergreen or Blossom Hill areas, those will be a little higher but affordable. Another thing is, you're not too far from the city and things such as Santa Cruz.

Now for living in SoCal, you can't really go wrong with any of those places. If I were to choose, I would probably go with Burbank,Glendale, LA.

Definitely take Sacramento off your Northern CA list. There is nothing there.

I'm from San Jose and if I had to choose, I'd pick Southern California. Way more things to do down there.

given your response, i'd go with Burbank/Glendale/LA/West Hollywood/Burbank. sac has nothing. woodland hills is a bit far to get to certain parts of LA. g'luck.

I've lived in both So Cal and Nor Cal. There are pros and cons to both. So Cal definitely has great weather, and overall more fun. I'm thinking of making the move myself soon.

If you decide to go the So Cal route, go for somewhere in the OC. Irvine is affordable, close to newport beach and less than an hour from LA. Only downside is majority of places close by 10pm.

Good luck with your choices! I'm hopefully moving to SoCal close to the end of this year for school.

I like sac; not too far from the coast and "the city" as many call it, I couldn't live in SF or LA, too many fucking people.

yeah irvine is a great place to live one of the safest places in states.and its a place to raise a family. its a planned city, there are like plaza's almost like every block away from each other and its very quiet.. irvine is well planned out there are no liquor stores and no walmart.. and there is only one 711 in the area i believe.. unless you count a gas station with a 711 then there are two.. and if you live in irvine you are like 10 minutes away from the beach..

from woodland hills you get the benefit of the whole valley which means there's always lots to do and isn't too far of a drive to hollywood or glendale. or you can take a short drive in the other direction for the beach.

glendale is slightly more upbeat and alive, where you can actually see people walking on the streets all the time and there's cool cafe's and little markets and whatnot. Oh and its bmw and mercedez galore.

both are good choices. San Diego's cool too as long as your near somewhere like the gaslamp district. hope this helps

No hard feelings... Cost of living of LA, SD, and San Jose are the same. Highest cost of living is San Francisco. Which is norcal. I know because I'm collecting post 911(veterans tuition assistance for school).

As for activities. Seeing your coming from Texas. Which is very humid but also very hot. If your comfortable with that stay in socal. Living in LA I can tell you any and everything you want to do is not too far. Closest beach is 30 mins west. Desert is an hour east. There's canyons and springs north east. Snow activities is an hour drive. As for ethnicity. Big melting pot. There are little ethnic communities ( jap town, chinatown,Armenian town) so with diverse ethnic groups comes food. Do ur research. It is costly here, that's the downside. With high population= crime rate, high gas prices, traffic, and assholes.
