Air intake questions?

I'm thinking of upgrading my air intake, but honestly if I do this I would like to see some performance upgrade in doing this. Are there any recomendations for air intakes for my car 2006 330i E90. I was looking at the BMW PERFORMANCE one its nice but is it going to give any HP gain? Or is it just a nice pretty part for looks that will help it run a lil smoother? Anyways if there are any other ideas out there tell me what you guys think.
I'm really leaning towards the BMW Performance one. But if theres anything that will give more HP or is better for the same cost please tell.
Thanks

We have the Simota CF Ram Style Intake for your car which provides a nice improvement in sound and power.

You might as well go with looks. Because for 330i...not much out there that will make a significant difference. People tell you 10hp dynosheet blah blah blah. But bottom line...can YOU tell the difference??

I have gruppe M rep. I like it because it opens underneath and matches perfect with my m3 airduct which functions perfectly as a scoop. Initially I was going to get the authentic piece (~$1k) but I ended up getting a good deal on a used piece of the rep. Its been totally fine.

I do notice a slightly quicker response on the throttle, and the sound is different. But my car is not really *faster* in performance than before. I am sure a dyno sheet somewhere could show 10hp gains at the flywheel...but how about at the wheels? Well, I can't really appreciate 4-6 whp increase on the road.

Good luck. I like the BMW performance piece as well...but it is a closed box. Again, I wanted the opening from underneath.

hey, im in the same boat as you are. I talked to many people and searched a lot and like everyone says there is really nothing for our 330's. I think im going to go with bmw performance exhaust and im in the mix between the bmw performance intake or somthing else because my warranty expires in september.

Depends on how much you want to spend. BMW performance is ~$800.

This guy is selling his for $325 (unopened)....but I think they sell for ~$350 new??? So, I do not think its that great of a deal to make it rushed.

I would try to find out if any of the local guys have the injen one, and check it out in person. I do not know of anyone yet that has the BMW performance one, so I do not know any reviews of it off hand.

Grrrr, thanks for you input though.... I mean it shouldn't be that bad its made by BMW! But I mean it doesn't really make sense Take the BMW Performance for $800.00 and it will increase only soo much, and yet spend $350.00 for the Injen one and it will increase 10HP??? Kind of weird right?

well, the bmw one has a nice enclosed CF system. The injen...only heat shield, and exposed to whatever the air brings in.

Again...I dunno about how much performance each has. But I know people like the *sound* of the injen.

i went with the injen, and the sound from that clip is really not how it sounds like in person. you should try and see if any of your local members have them and go hear it yourself. for me i perosnally think that the Performace intake is way overpriced. there is also AFE and and Simota for around the same price range.
