1. Intercooler - 5-10 hp/tq (provides consistent power and prevents power loss) 2. Catless Downpipes - 20-30 hp/tq (best mod other then a tune for power gains) 3. Exhaust - 10-15 hp/tq (least power for the money mod) 4. Intake - 5-10 hp/tq (good idea when running above mods and high boost) Hope that helps Mike |

Gonna have to agree with some with...
1. FMIC : gotta have it, most restrictive part of the car plus it can't even handle stock boost (8.5 psi) for 2 consecutive pulls. 2. Tune: Now with your FMIC you can ACTUALLY HANDLE the extra boost 3. DP's: This will give you some great power on top of your previous 2 mods. After that a good exhaust system will give a little more power but more importantly add some great sound. Some even like the stock exhaust sound. Intake is up for debate, but I think if you are running 14+ PSI you might need to go beyond the stock airbox for high RPM power. If you don't race it and you don't rev above 5k often, just keep the stock airbox. Seriously. Maybe drop in a Macht Snell air filter (or similar). |

I realise the OP is asking about engine mods, and in response to that I'm of the opinion that the OP needs to address the cooling and thermodynamic performance of the engine in conjunction with the tune. FMIC, uprated oil cooler to keep the temps under control, DPs (either high-flow catted or de-catted), in that order. No real point in my mind to increase the power with DPs and FMIC, and not be able to keep the temps under control as the OEM oil cooler (assuming the OP even has one) is not efficient or capable enough to cope with the higher temps the engine will produce.
However.... I'm amazed that not one of the 25 posts previous to this has mentioned anything about improving the brakes You want to go faster? Get a tune. You want to live longer as well? Get some decent brakes... oh, and decent brakes will also help you go faster too (in terms of time around a circuit or such like) Makes me laugh at how many people are after "power power power" and yet don't even consider the "control" aspect of tuning I suppose being able to stop well and handle corners is not as impressive down the local bar as saying you've got 400million horsepower... Oh, and one person did make a good point - driver training $0.02

Best engine mod for 335, besides chip.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What would be the most cost effective power mod for my 335? I will do the Vishnu Proceed v3, but what else would be a good mod. Above in BOLD was the OP's subject and post. I think most of us were answering his question directly like men usually do. I agree suspension, brakes, radiator... all great mods and maybe more important, but not what OP was asking for. |

My point was not really in relation to the OP's request, to which I have actually replied in my post above. I am assuming, perhaps wrongly, that the OP is modifying his engine to achieve higher power and torque figures and is therefore asking what supporting mods to the engine would help him increase those numbers. I would therefore assume also that the OP is wanting his car to go faster. So my amazement is to do with how all "the men" who have "answered his question directly" in encompassing a wider spectrum of mods (LSD, suspension, sway bars, coilovers, sticky tyres - all these were mentioned) have failed to mention brakes at any point...

It looks like (besides tune) Intercooler and Catless Downpipes is the best bet. How much are these two ? And last question is, what is the difference between Catless and Catted Downpipes in terms of price, performance and convenience ? |

Catted pipes are about 2-300 more expensive as they obviously require a cat They don't provide the performance gains as catless pipes as the cat induces restriction. They are better then stock, but if you are after true performance gains catless pipes are the way to go. The catted pipes are popular for the Europeans and guys from California. Mike |
