Yep, my friends and I are coming to munich this sept to see germany and enjoy some fine beer. We want to have fun without pissing off the natives.

So what 5 thinks should and shouldnt we do when there? (ps, none of us have been to europe before)

I am very agreeable with police, I think german police even more.

I wasnt going too. I might be 50% german, but I will leave that tradition to to the true germans.

Do you happen to know how strict they are about making you leave if you aren't drinking enough. I would love to enjoy a beer tent all day, I just doubt I want to drink for 10 hours straight and still have fun.

LOL..few hours I didnt get wasted..but I saw people drinking massive amounts..it so funny when someone would pass out..the event guys would safely carry em out of the tent..u gotta love German efficiency

Not to worry, there are hundreds of people in those tents, there is no way they have any idea how much you are drinking.

The beer is really expensive though and it's mostly liter mugs. You do have to pay deposit on the mugs when you order one. But, when one is empty you just rotate it out for a full one, just pay deposit once. I took a mug from each main tent home last time I was there.

You'll be fine without drinking for ten straight hours. I just left last weekend and stayed in a tent for well over 5 hours with my wife and we only drank 3 beers. They are 10 euros a piece though. Havefun and watch out for the random pukers around you.

Please tell me you took some pics..my one regret I didnt when i was there 6 years ago..I absolutely loved Germany..Dusseldorf was my hub city when I was travelling for the company I was with..God I miss those days..especially taking the train from Dusseldorf to Amsterdam..

And the cars I saw in Munchen..was absolutely mind boggling..to this day I am still trying to figure out an AMG SL Mercedes that I saw there with 3 tail pipes on each side..(6 total)..absolutely NOT after market...the sound of that car is forever etched in my brain...Americans have no idea what level cars are on in Europe...

i took over 2k pics this trip, so plenty of the beer garden. But I think the following three sum up how my first day went. We sat down around 10:30 dead middle of the Haufbraus House Tent with 12 Scottish guys (on a bachelor party) at our backs. My buddy points one out one in a blue shirt and says "that man it the most dangerous of the group."

Then we notice that's a common thing for folks to get up on the tables and try to slam a beer to the cheers (or jeers upon failure) of the entire building. Pretty cool, but not the way to remember the day.

Fast forward 1 hours after I finished my first liter and needed to break the seal and was about the piss myself. I stand up on the bench to get out (the accepted manner) and the scott in the blue shirt hands me a full liter and says "Drink"

At that point, i had to make a hard decision. Drink and get booed when I failed, or not drink and hear all day from the Scotts (a rowdy bunch) about not doing it. So I took the plunge, better to have failed then never try. As you can see, from the pictures, I was able to somehow bring about a miracle of sorts to the cheers of those in the crowd (see pictures). From that moment on, I was required to sit with the scotts the rest of the day and not have to buy another beer. It was an amazing day.

..AWESOME>>>one thing I loved about Germany (Europe in general) was how easy it was to make friends...conversely..the level of brawls that popped up was way up there..but even when fights broke out..there was still a chivarly about it...mano a mano all the way..and always fair ones..damn Mithiral67...u r really making me reminisce...

Dude, no BS, I was there at the Hofbrau tent at the EXACT same time you were. I was up on the balcony to your back in the photo, yelling at fat people.

I was in that tent Sept 22nd for a couple hours as well, up on the balcony. Oktoberfest was nuts and with the amount of beer I drank, I'm surprised I'm still alive lol.

That's an awesome story Mith! I didn't see the guy in blue in the pics...you have more to share? How was the food?

Here's Gordy (man in blue), got an email from him a couple weeks after, saying his in vegas and to get my ass there to drink a liter of whiskey. I was called out for being a burbon drinker and not a wishkey drinker.

The food was amazing, best food I had in germany. Being half german, love the stuff, was in heaven.

The english crew there that day, also sat with them on the second day I hit the tents solo.
