new Comfort Access feature

I discovered a new Comfort Access behavior tonight. I suspect this is probably due to my recent update to Progman 27 but I'm not sure.

In the past CA used to work only if the front doors are locked.
E.g. if all 4 doors are locked, you pull the front door handle, CA activates and you unlock your doors.

If your front door is unlocked and the rear doors are locked, there are no way to open the rear door with CA. Pulling the front door handle will simply open the front door and the CA will not activate.

Now, with latest Progman, CA will activate when you hold the front door handle, even if the front door is unlocked. So you can unlock your rear doors with CA even if your front door is unlocked.

This is a nice improvement. If your car is new and has the latest Progman you probably take this for granted but for those of us who had our car for awhile this is certainly a welcome improvement.

Again I don't know which Progman started this but I know for sure my car didn't do this before, and I use to complain specifically about this issue in another CA thread. So, good job BMW for improving this feature. Now if only we have CA on all 4 doors... (not to mention front PDC)

Sure you didn't have CA set to just unlock the drivers door before?

I've heard alot of good things about the new V27 PROGMAN, but i also heard that it decreases the car's power, so no v27 for me

I picked my 08 up in Oct and it already had v27. I'm pretty sure you have it.

No guys, the old CA doesn't do it. I've always set my CA to unlock all 4 doors.

Like I said I don't know which Progman started doing this, someone can test this:
- get in the driver seat, lock all 4 doors .
- get out of the car, now your driver door is unlocked but the other doors are locked
- now try to open the driver door again and see if the rear doors unlock.

If you have pre early/mid 06 build without any software update CA won't unlock the rear doors.

My october '05 build V27 updated E90 unlocks all doors when I shut off the engine. As it allways have done.

lol...i was just checking the updates that come with v27, and i found out that i have those upgrades. I guess that explains why my car feels slower than the E90 335i i test drove about 3 months ago before ordering my bimmer.

But is his true though?

Man, read my post, go through the steps.

I don't know if my car auto unlocks all doors when I shut off my engine. Actually, no, I'm pretty sure mine doesn't. Your 05 build is pretty special.

My CA unlocks all doors w/o engine being on, always done that, too. That is NOT what I was talking about.

Like I said if you've never noticed this before and after software update you won't notice/appreciate the change.

Tested this as you describe today, locked doors, engine running.
Pulled twice on the handle and got out with the fob in my pocket.
Shut the dront door and tried to open the rear passenger door, no luck.
Grabbed the front doorhandle, "Voila!" the rear door unlocks!

No idea if it didn't work like this before.

That's exactly the improvement I am talking about.

CA did not do this back in March 06. See my comments in this thread (specifically, post #9)

Exactly. If people had never noticed this incovenience, they'll never notice this improvement either.

Nope... no power loss. I just tested my car using Terry's Racelogic unit and was able to get better than stock 0-60 numbers.
