bmw performance exhaust

going to buy a BMW PE system, anyone had one before and how it works?
also, did you guys installed it at BMW or an independent exhaust shop?
if you install it at a independent exhaust shop, will that influence your warranty?
thanks, guys!!!!!

I bought the BMW PE and installed it myself. The dealer never questioned me who installed it when I went in for service. I really like how it sounds. It is not that loud but still has a very nice throaty sound to it above 3000 rpm. it took me a couple of hours using Rhino ramps. the hardest part was measuring and cutting the pipes. if you decide to install it yourself, have plenty of blades I went through 4 blades cutting the stock exhaust. I had to make a trim pass after my first cuts. I didn't want to cut to much so I decided to make my cuts shorter and trim vs trying to get it in one go.
hope this helps.

Thanks,
Jorge

With normal downpipes, the sounds is pretty good, It's loud with open downpipes (will wake your neighbours in the morning),

The sound with open DP's and this exausth is pretty sexy, I have people opening their windows asking to rev my engine at the trafic lights hahahah...

I love mine. Best mod I did on the car. Im bone stock though, so its my only upgrade. It sounds very deep at light loads say under 1500-1800, but opens up to a very throaty sound when you get on it. Doesnt intrude on daily driving either, as mine is a DD. Its perfect, its how the car should have came if you ask me

Love mine too. An indie shop did it for 80 bucks. Dealer wanted 400 bucks to install. Could have done it myself but glad I paid to do it

Best part to me is the burble and popping sound you get when you let off the gas

I had mine installed by the dealer when I and it was rolled into the purchase price and it added to the residual value on my lease.

Other than the PE I am running stock as far as engine/exhaust system goes. I love the sound of the PE - in my mind, just the right balance - not too loud, but louder and more aggressive sounding than stock, but no where near the "Ricky racer" end of the spectrum. Very sweet sound

What's the point of the performance exhaust if you're going to put on catless downpipes? Why not get a full exhaust that actually does something besides sound kind of nice?

the only reason I can see someone getting the performance exhaust is if they don't want to deal with warranty issues

I just purchased the BMW PE from Tischer and asked my local deal how much to install it... they told me 3-4 hours @ $132.00 per hour (Crazy!).

So I'm going to have Matt @ CamberToe take care of it.

I went this route so that it was one less headache I need to deal with when going in for service.

Well I got it for the sound alone. On a car with stock tune an exhaust will not get you much for what you spend. If I wanted power the Cobb, jb4, procede offer much more hp for less $$

I did the PE as my first mod. Since added JB4 and DCI. Would like a bigger FMIC, but I'm going to wait till the car is out of warranty.

Figure the chip and intake come off in 30 minutes or so, if I need to dealer the car, but any aftermarket exhaust would cause issues.

Planning a LSD next, thinking it isn't likely it would be noticed if your not looking for it.

Any work done from the primary cats back will not void your warranty.

Depends on your SA. They can really make some BS up about your exhaust if they really want to deny your warranty work. If its BMW Performance parts they really cant say anything.

Bought mine from Tischer, went with PE due to warranty concerns as well. Might add downpipes once out of warranty.

If you have an E92, you only get the mufflers. I had an independent shop weld it in place instead of using the clamps. Also had the tips replaced with rolled tips that sit more flush with the bumper.

My only complaint is that it's super loud at startup and takes about a minute to quiet down to a reasonable level. Great sounding without being obnoxious.
