i had DCI's at one point.... idk - every car i've ever owned i always fell to the hype of changing the stock intake out, and i always end up putting it back in because i always feel a loss of torque off boost.

I would remove it above 14.5 psi of boost.

Actually its just physics, Enrita now runs the procede. Its not about GIAC. At 14.5psi and up you need more surface area on the filter. The stock air box can simply not supply enough air for the turbos to run efficiently. When you start limiting air to the engine your AFR's are miscued and the car wont run to its full potential. If you want the best of both worlds check out ASR. They have a closed box similar to the stock one. It has supported their 500+ whp 135i. I dont think they have updated their website but if you want more info I would give them a call. Its one expensive setup tho. 2000 for intake and bov. (they come as a package bc no other bov or dv will work with the air box)

The is no reason that I can see why the N54 would normally produce less power off boost with DCI vs. STD intake. It may be a difference in favor to STD intake in extreme situations like if it is very hot and the car is driven at walking speed.

You can probably find extreme situations like I mentioned in the previous post where the STD intake may be slightly better but a DCI or even better the Mr.5 CAI, will almost always perform better. Another situation where the stock intake should be ahead for a while is directly after take off when the car has been idling for some time when it is very warm outside and frigging hot in the engine bay. But these are not typical driving situations for most people unless you are in a real hot climate and the traffic is jammed and slow.
