BMW Performance parts generally retain dollar for dollar value for the price of the part. So you should be adding $599 to the value of your car.

As for the questions regarding what vehicles this is available on:

335i Sport models
335i M-Sport models
335xi M-Sport models

I don't know about the additional oil cooler, all I know is that I do have some additional radiator in my passenger side wheel well. I don't know if this is on all 335s or just ones with Sport or MSport.

The performance power kit version 2 adds an additional one under the driver side wheel well for additional cooling.

From what I had investigated:

1. If you are going to Track your car - get the one with additional cooling

2. If this is just for daily driving and a little more umph, Stage 1 is adequate without the cooling.

Seems pretty cheap. I should do this one, some recent software update seems to have blunted responsiveness of the 135i. This will hopefully help.

I will call the dealer tomorrow.

Supreme. Call your SA and ask them to add option ZMZ at the port. It shouldn't be any problem as long as you have the msport on your new 335ix. Then you'll get the grills and the tune for $599

Hope it works out

There have been more than a few xdrive models with ZSP that did not have an external oil cooler.

Cooling only available?

Has anyone heard mention of buying (only) the cooling portion of stage 2 without the tune? Would like to get this and run my Cobb

You will have to buy the parts individually yourself and install them by a shop. BMW won't do this for you.

Note that the software upgrade is required to power the bigger fan which draws more power (850W compared to stock 600W), and the new software also makes the water pump run harder.

I was just quoted $195 for the stage 1 labor cost. I expect this number will vary depending on your dealership.

I doubt they will. The bulletin specifically states it "Should" be installed on cars only with option 840 which is increased top speed limiter and oil cooler. With that language, to do otherwise, the dealer is taking on liability.

wow, I didn't realize the oil cooler debacle went past the 2007 model year, I thought after all the mags and customers ripped into BMW for no coolers on non-sports and some autos, they retrofitted them for those that wanted them?

Nope -- AFAIK, the only free retrofits were if you could show your car **should** have come with the oil cooler (right model year and build date, sport package, etc) and it didn't get installed. Otherwise, retrofit is on the customer's dime.

And the problem extended well into the 2008 model year, as well.

Edited: And, of course, there were some free retrofits done on cars where DME codes proved the engine had overheated under normal operating conditions. Those required advance approval from BMW-NA after dealer confirmation of the overheat condition.

No. Honestly, at the current price point, that's a steal for the Stage 2.

You should probably get it and put COBB on top of it.

Individual dealer pricing may vary, but the bulletin suggests 45 minutes for V1 and 3.5 hours for V2.
Can you post a copy of the bulletin?

would be nice to see a Dyno with this PPK instead of the BMW graph numbers...

i just asked my dealer regarding AM tunes on top of this PPK and he assure me the software upgrade is alsogoing to be blocking some of the well known modifications (not stating the names since i dont want to damage any vendors reputation)... this worries me a bit...

+1

The stealership, that didn't even know about the special, estimated 3.5 hours on stage 1 (more than $400 on installation, can you believe that?).
I just want to slap the service assistant with the bulletin, if available.

You should slap him in the face with your hand for suggesting a software upgrade would take 3.5 hours of labor. Seriously. Common sense much?

Just called the closest dealership to me in Fort Wayne...the parts guy didnt even know what I was talking about...

So they transferred me to a BMW sales guy, who was quite surprised I had a part number and everything...he said he would call me back because they would have to estimate how much it would run...

He was very surprised to hear that the bulletin estimated 45 min for V1...

We're in the same boat. One of them actually found it. One dealer said $250 for the V1 install. One said $195, and the other said $177. I'm very confused.

Just heard back from the guy--he asked if this was something that I already had, or if I had to get it from them?

Anyway...he said the labor rate to hook anything up to the BMW computer would be $150. So, in his words, if everything goes right, that would be the total cost to have it flashed...

I think they are morons, to be honest...
