Removing Lower Middle Grill to Expose IC

Anyone ever did this? I would imagine it would look better but performance wise it would be negligible since the stock IC isn't very good anyways. Going to put my flame suit on just in case!

I removed the left and right grills but not the center grill specifically due to the IC being exposed to debris. I got rid of the left and right for better flow to the oil cooler and the engine compartment.
Since I do so much freeway driving, I'm sure that my IC would look all damaged from the debris flying up.

yes I have all of the grills removed... not a whole lot of IC damage but you always have to watch for that...

I don't think it will help or hurt performance. You'll just have more dead insects and small rocks in your intercooler fins.

How can it make any difference, seriously the grill is not excatly going to protect from bugs or stones. There's probably only a 15-20% chance of any small 'foreign object' deflecting off the grill plastic rather than passing straight thru the holes

I have and with an upgraded intercooler it looks mean as hell. It doesn't look as good only done with the stock intercooler you need a direct front mount that sit in front and not under the radiator (AA, Stett) to get the look. I have had my middle grill off for almost 5 months now and have noticed no extra wear or damage on the fins like you would think.

It really won't make any difference with that grill on or off. When I went to clean mine last summer it still had a ton of crap stuck in the fins... and that's with grill on the whole time.

it would hurt when some road debris goes into the intercooler instead of just damaging the grill.

I dont know why.. maybe just cuz i have one, but i like the Aero lipbetter than the MTECH kit... I guess to each their own.. I was recently rear-ended and I got another OEM rear bumper vs getting a MTECH one, because I feel that the OEM + Cuts for quads looks better then the mtech (ONLY IN BLACK... EVERY OTHER COLOR MTECH REAR LOOKS BETTER)

Nope, you can pop it out with the bumper on. I did it and strongly suggest it.

It would take something pretty big, and if your not paying attention and don't see something that big then its your own fault. Like I said I have had mines off for 5 months with no added wear or damage.
